Book Reviews of How to Boil WaterBook Review: Great Information! Summary: 5 Stars
We bought this book for my college daughter's boyfriend and during the holidays, while snowed in, we did a lot of cooking and found we were constantly referring to this very informative cook book!! From a new and an "old" cook's point of view we found the book extremely helpful as well as entertaining!! I've since bought 3 more to give as gifts for young people moving into first time apartments as well as for my sister who is a great cook!
Book Review: Helpful but the Binding Sucks Summary: 4 Stars
I am neurotic and am often anxious when cooking different things for fear of not following the directions accurately. I know I need to work on this and realize that unless baking recipes don't need to be followed exactly. That being said this book is very helpful to me. I have made many recipes in it and found them all to be pretty easy. My only complaint is that the binding is falling apart and some of the pages are falling out.
Book Review: Great for the Novice Adult Cook Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this for my cooking-challenged boyfriend, who complained I never let him help out in the kitchen. He really likes this cookbook! It's written in a straightforward, simple manner that doesn't make him feel "dumb" or overwhelmed by unfamiliar terms. The layout is colorful and engaging, and the tips and "upgrades" are actually helpful. He's excited about cooking and I'm REALLY excited to have him cook for me.
Book Review: a dummy's cookbook for smart people Summary: 5 Stars
This book is incredibly informative. It's everything I wanted to learn about food, but was too lazy to ask -- where it comes from, what to look for when buying it, how to cut it all up... and that's aside from the great recipes. This mass of info is fortunately so intelligently written and laid out that it never really feels like overload. I'd put the book on my coffee table if I didn't need it so much in the kitchen.
Book Review: informative read Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased 2 copies of How to Boil Water to give as a gift to my college age children. I am keeping one for myself until I have finished reading it and copying several of the recipes. It's packed with interesting tid bits of information that I never knew. It's a hard back copy with a cool cover and great pictures inside. I would recommend this book as a graduation, wedding, or moving out gift.
