Book Review: very dry

I bought this book for an eight-year-old and I think it's too dry for a young child (and for me). Each flower is isolated on a page with a facing page to practice drawing it, so it would take an older child or an adult to see how to incorporate it in a complete picture or project. The drawings are all large and if you really had to draw a flower for some reason, you could certainly do it following these directions. However, somehow they manage to take some of the romance and prettiness out of the flowers, although some are better than others in that respect.
