Book Reviews of How to Write a Movie in 21 Days: The Inner Movie Method

Book Review: The Best!
Summary: 5 Stars

Story first. My one and only script writing book. It's all here.
You'll be writing your own scripts by the end of the last chapter.
You'll be tempted to stop reading and start writing. She's that good. But you should be disciplined and finish, theres more to know.
I love the lessons all throughout the book. Had no idea I was being set up to write my first script.
She's good, this one.

Thanks Viki.

I highly recommend.

Book Review: You CAN write a movie in 21 days!
Summary: 5 Stars

I tried to write a screenplay 10 years before I actually wrote one! This easy to follow, insightful and clever book both showed me how to begin and most importantly FINISH a screenplay! I've written 5 of them and have come very close to selling one! King is the Queen of script crafting. If you only READ ONE book on screenplays, I STRONGLY recommend this gem!The Green Room

Book Review: How to write a movie even if you have no ideas
Summary: 3 Stars

The author don't offer more than it promises: if you follow the advices, you will write a movie. Not a good one, but you will write.
In fact, it may be a good book for those who need rules to keep writing day after day.
But unless you are very gifted, don't expect to write a selleable script with only this book. According to the author you can write a movie even if you have any idea of plot or anything (just write about your personal experience).

Book Review: How To Write a Movie in 21 Days
Summary: 5 Stars

As silly as the title sounds, it is really an excellent resource and motivator to stay on track and get that screenplay done. My copy is already worn out and I have a new copy waiting. The structure and timelines keep you moving towards the completed screenplay. Viki King has solutions for those common hurdles that screenwriters often face. It is one of my favorite resources I keep by my side each time I write. It is a must for any writer's library.

Book Review: An O.K. intro, but it forces you to produce standard fare.
Summary: 3 Stars

Viki's system is a good kick in the pants. It motivates you to write, but it forces a three-act structure on your screenplay. Great for "Lethal Weapon" and the like, but a bit intolerant for something more innovative.

But typing "Lethal Weapon" in 21 days is a good deal as well! Not a bad intro to screenwriting, but not great. Take her page-by-day deadlines and apply it to something with deeper character structure initially.
