Book Review: True tales of life in 'de Islands

I've known the author for several years, and can vouch that her hilarious tales of life in the Virgin Islands (US and British) are, however improbable it seems, firmly grounded in her experiences. I'd rate her writing up there with the best humorous travel writers. I saw her "Traffic Lights" re-created this August as St. John got it's first traffic light, complete with an uniformed officer to make sure drivers understood the correct the correct procedures! I enjoyed chatting with two St. John citizens about "Pirates in Paradise," the tale of the fatally failed fast food chain in Cruz Bay. Their comment was "'Dat lady sure got that tale right!" Dear Miss Mermaid is almost finished with her next book, I can hardly wait to see which stories from her life show up. In the interim, if you enjoy her tales, check her out at [...], and especially her additional blog that includes her hilarious, but scary, 23 days in Peebles Hospital in Tortola this summer. It seems that whereever the Mermaid is, strange things happen, unique people appear, and she has the presence of mind to write them down in a way that makes them absurdly funny. Buy this book!
