Book Reviews of I, Alex Cross

Book Review: Back To Business
Summary: 5 Stars

I have to say that I haven't even bought some of James Patterson's latest books. I did enjoy the last Alex Cross book minimally though only because I enjoy the series as a whole.

This book does get back to why I like the Cross series so much. The only thing I didn't enjoy about ths book was the violence involving woman and sex in this book. Sure alot of books alude to it but I don't need or appreciate the details. I didn't even read Swimsuit for that reason.

But beyound that...this mystery as well was a easy read. It is typical cookie cutter James Patterson. But on somenights that is enough for me. I am looking forward to Kyle and Cross in the future as this ending implies!

Book Review: A Slight Disappointment
Summary: 3 Stars

Determined to capture the psychopath responsible for murdering his niece, Alex Cross discovers that the young woman was among a group of escorts and was not the only one to have disappeared, a case that draws Alex into the heart of a top secret fantasy club.
I normally like all of James Patterson's books but this one just didn't make the cut being not all that satisfying. Normally his books are already short and fast to read, but with the sub-plot of Nana in the hospital, of which was easy to skim over, it went really fast. This one seemed more cookie cutter than all his other novels and the ending was not at all satisfying. I won't stop reading Patterson because I'm sure his next book will be better.

Book Review: Why are you reading this book???
Summary: 2 Stars

Your star rating for this book will depend on your motivation for reading it. It is a 5-star book if your only concern is entertainment value. The chapters are short and the font is large making it a quick read. The story moves along quickly and the plot is intriguing although not very complicated. Like the evening news, Patterson uses sex, power, gore, and politics to hook the reader. You will not be disappointed if you prefer a happy ending. If you are looking for a substantive murder mystery, you will rate this book a lot lower. There is no path of clues to follow in figuring out "whodunit." Again, the plot is not very intricate...no twist or turns to speak of...just veg out and read along.

Book Review: Maybe he should kill off Alex Cross
Summary: 3 Stars

I was amused by the ads where James Patterson is telling his faithfull readers to buy his book or he will kill off Alex Cross. I love Alex Cross - however I am a little tired of him myself. This book was good, loved the plot twist ( at least up until it the President was introduced, because then I figured out who the murderer was)- but am really tired of the story line of Nana, and the rest disapproving of his phone answering... the guy is a cop, a great cop, the phone is going to ring, and if it is not Kyle Craig then you know it will be about another murder. All his girlfriends are exactly the same and maybe, just maybe if James Patterson does not kill off Nana, then Alex should go.

Book Review: Don't start this book unless...
Summary: 4 Stars

...you plan on finishing it; and don't plan on getting much done after you start reading. Patterson does it again. For those who like his short blast chapters and breakneck pace, this is another weapon in the Alex Cross gauntlet. There is just enough grim detail and violent encounter to satisfy the hardcore reader, and just enough family orientation and patriotism to balance the gritty stuff. Petterson is a master of the climax/denoument/cliffhanger, and the end of this book jolts the reader into anticipation of the next installment. Long 'live' Alex Cross. Why Are All the Good Teachers Crazy?
