Book Reviews of I, Alex CrossBook Review: Better than Cross Country Summary: 1 Stars
As other reviewers had mentioned, this is a better read than the very bad Cross Country. However, that's like saying it is better to have a tooth pulled over a slow painful drilling of your teeth both without a novacane.
I agree with other reviwers who commented Beloved Cross family member never mentioned before. How can that be a beloved member.
Nana, in and out of the hospital and coma?
He mentions Barack Obama in the book but the president is a woman. Why mention Obama?
The best page of the book was the last page. Why because the book came to an end and Kyle Craig places a call to Cross.
Book Review: The Cross series has run its course Summary: 1 Stars
I used to be a very devoted fan of James Patterson's books, but they've become increasingly formulaic and, unfortunately, boring. His latest in the Detective Alex Cross series seems to have been written from a generic template that needs to be retired. Alex discovers a problem/crime, Alex has family issues, Alex has work/authority/supervisory issues, Alex has a love interest, Alex solves the problem. Jeez, give me a break. Alex has become as one dimensional as the supporting characters in most of Patterson's novels. The only good thing I can say about this book is that I got it from my public library, so I didn't waste any money on its purchase.
Book Review: Did I Miss Something? Summary: 3 Stars
I've always looked forward to any new Alex Cross novel, but I was disappointed in this one. All of the "Nana stuff" referred to by others didn't bother me; I find her character delightful. What drove me crazy - and sent me looking back several chapters - was the clue about the killer's ring...(Spoiler alert!) There was video of Zeus wearing it when he murdered one of the women. When Bowie is thought to be the killer, he's wearing the ring and as a matter of fact, Alex asks him, "Where did you get that ring?" However, he's NOT the killer and the ring's never mentioned again. How'd Bowie get the ring? Again I ask, "Did I muss something?"
Book Review: Dick and Jane Reader Summary: 3 Stars
It seems like James Patterson is happy to see how many books he and co-author's can turn out in a year. Would be nice if he really worked a little harder on each book; quality, not quantity. The story here is interesting but left me wanting to read a real book instead of a 1st grade Dick and Jane reader: big print, margin size and line spacing turn this into a 374 page book that should be a 100 page book given normal font, spacing and margins.
And enough about Nana mama......
If you're looking for a quick read so you can say you read an entire book then James Patterson is your guy...
Book Review: Cross is back Summary: 4 Stars
I am a huge fan of the Alex Cross series but I was disappointed with the direction the series had taken with Cross Country and Alex Cross's Trial, but I, Alex Cross put the series back on track.
The storyline is more of what you have come to expect from the classics in this series. That being said, the storyline follows the typical James Patterson archetype, Odd sexually driven murders, High powered suspects, and Alex Cross and Sampson to the rescue with little help from the higher-ups at the DCPD.
Story is fast paced and all the old characters are together again in a fun book, enjoy.
