Book Reviews of I Hope They Serve Beer In HellBook Review: Tucker Max - Highly Offensive and Extremely Funny Summary: 4 Stars
I think every woman should read this book. Tucker Max, by his own admission, is a chauvinist pig, a spoiled, good-looking rich kid, a child of wealth and privilege, a law school graduate. He's also a hell of a good writer, and this book is extremely offensive and very funny. This is what men are thinking, even nice men who would never act on their desires.
I wasn't supposed to laugh when Tucker Max finished with his one-night stand, an obese woman who he took home only on a bet from his friends that he wouldn't do it, and then his eagerness to get her out of his room after they're done, before any of his roommates see her and find out that he's just had sex with a fat woman. I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell is a politically incorrect, highly offensive, allegedly true story. The scary thought is that most of the details probably are true.
Book Review: Really, Really BAD. Summary: 1 Stars
I, too, have written about 4 different negative reviews on this book over the last year and all of them have been deleted for some reason.
I dont appreciate it because if you dont want an honest opinion, then dont allow people to review books here anymore.
I found this book at a thrift store and thought it might be a funny read. Having never heard of this person, I didnt get past the first couple of chapters before I realized that this was basically a cry for attention from the "author".
What this book boils down to is a *very* poorly written, juvenile account of someone with low self esteem making a fool of himself. The grammatical errors are atrocious as are the choppy sentences and poor paragraph structure.
I didnt find it funny, well-written, or in the least bit entertaining. I found it to be a waste of my time.
Book Review: My selection for Book Club next month!! Summary: 5 Stars
Please understand the name of our book club is "Read Between the Wines." I figure it will stimulate some interesting discussion, though it may polarize our group of middle-aged women. But I just don't get how you could not love this book if you are not a prude! As for the "been there done that" reprise of the negative reviewers here, I can only guess they are jealous THEY didn't publish these stories--if they indeed heard them first.
My attorney husband, for whom I bought the book as a Christmas present (and then wouldn't let him read it until I finished it), thinks all the stories are entirely made up. Personally, I don't CARE if the stories are true, because they are so damned funny! Even he cracks up when I look at him and say, "Exxon Valdez." We are thinking about mixing up a batch of Tucket Max Death Mix for the Superbowl...
Book Review: This book is kind of bland Summary: 2 Stars
I really would expect more audacious stories from a book with such a clever title, but these stories are just so common - same old, same old college humor. I have heard all of these stories in one form or another from my overweight, working-class friends who are still stuck in their glory days, drinking beer and telling exagerated tales about the women they (allegedly) debouched. C'mon, seriously... If you're going to make up stories about your youth... and publish them in a book... for god's sake be more creative. I gave this book a shot, and after the second chapter I was pissed that the author got a royalty for writing stories that I had already heard a thousand times before. But... you have my money, Tucker, so you win. I give this book two stars because the title was cool enough to make me spend a couple bucks to buy it at the airport
Book Review: OUTRAGEOUS!!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
Okay, I am a woman; how did I find this book so funny? I guess it could be because I am not the type of woman who would ever be with a Tucker Max. This mas is vile, outrageous, bordeline socipath, rude, and just plain nastyyyyyyy.
However, I was literally LAUGHING OUT LOUD at some of his escapades. I believe they are true, as he challenges anyone to dispute them. This has to be one of the most disturbingly funniest book I have ever read.
Tucker makes no apologies for his behavoir either, and why should he? All the girls he was with - they were NOT ladies in way shape or form. Tucker makes a good point, if women allow men to treat them disrepectfully; they will.
I have to say, some of his drunken nights turned my stomach, he leaves nothing to the imagination - NOTHING.
