Book Review: Do You Really Have Time to Read This Nonsense?

I'm not giving this book two stars because I think the guy is a narcissist, a misogynist, a loud-mouthed frat boy, or any of the other names that he has been called. If he wants to come off as rude and vulgar (which he seems proud of) that's fine, too. I don't care. Really, I don't.
I'm giving his book two stars because the writing itself is only average. Plain and simple. There's nothing there that even suggests that this guy can write beyond the blog.
The biggest reason that I am giving a two star rating is because I don't believe a single word that he says in the book. If it were fiction I wouldn't mind at all. Fiction is a lie. However, when you pass off your stories as "true life" you're not writing fiction anymore. Memoirs and biographies, depending on the person, can be some fun and interesting reading. But, you have to believe what is being written.
It's been my experience that guys that brag about how many women they have slept with have, in fact, slept with none or very few. Max says that he lost track in the triple digits. Not only is it doubtful, but highly unlikely. It's not that I'm jealous of his questionable conquests. It's because he has not instilled any trust in this reader. I have also found that people that profess what they are saying is the truth are liars. I lost track how many times he tells us what he is saying is the truth or how many times he tells us to call a friend to see if he is lying.
Is anyone going to call any of his friends to confirm or deny these stories? Of course not and that's what people, like Max, depend on. Most people, whether they want to admit it or not, are polite. We won't call someone out on their bs to their face. We'll let them go on and on with whatever outlandish story they have to tell. Only when the person is not around will we call them out.
Package this book as fiction. But don't expect me to believe most of what is printed. If you want to read a book where the main character is morally apprehensible read American Psycho. Read anything else other than this book. You're time (and money) is more valuable.
