Book Reviews of I Hope They Serve Beer in HellBook Review: I Could Feel My Soul Whither and Decay With Each Page Read Summary: 1 Stars
Unfortunately, I read enough of this novel to be able to write the review you will see below. I am sorry that I did, and write this only to discourage others from purchasing his novel.
Tucker Max is an incredibly self-centered, depraved individual. His book's popularity demonstrates that vulgarity can and is promotable in literary form. This book has been spread by word-of-mouth in the same ways that all things awful and degrading gain fame. The only people that would find this book enjoyable are:
1) Those that idolize Tucker's actions and activities, praising him as a king and aspiring to live vicariously through his lifestyle of casual sex and binge drinking.
2) Those that seek to experience a sensation of relief that they don't live a life nearly as loathsome as Tucker's, who weigh themselves on imbalanced scales of morality/depravity and walk away with a false sense of accomplishment.
3) Those that enjoy the shallow humor/entertainment in the degradation of women, recounted by an author who has no empathy for anyone other than himself.
All would still be mistaken to purchase this book. Do not buy this book out of curiosity. Do not buy this book because it's on the New York Times Best Sellers List. Do not buy this book if you show the slightest bit of empathy for women. Tucker is an animal whose contributions to society are increasingly destructive each and every time this novel is purchased.
Book Review: Not for the easily offended! Summary: 5 Stars
This book is like a glorified walk of shame!
Personally, I think Tucker Max is brilliant in "I Hope They Server Beer in Hell." I even started my own blog inspired by his stories. I bought the book because the title made me chuckle and assumed the whole book would be entertaining. It lived up to my expectations.
There were moments of disgust and shock at some of the antics by Maxx but that did not make the read any less enjoyable. Some of the stories I think went on longer than necessary but for the most part they were quick easy reads.
This is one book that I had trouble putting down Certain stories were more obsescene than others and I earmarked the pages, thinking "I must show these to the guys." One night after some drinks I pulled out the book and read outloud several of my favorite stories and NO one was disappointed.
I would completely reccomend this book for an easy fun read. This book would be especially appreciated by someone in college or fresh out of it.
Max shares the stories that most people are too embarased to share. These are the kind of stories that you are afraid to tell your friends cause they will most likely judge you.
But I must provide a disclaimer, from a womans perspective I loved it and was amused but my friend thought it was a disgrace. She was offended by some of the stories and could not continue reading. So Tucker Max may not be right for easily offended.
Book Review: Hilarious, and in the most pathetic way possible. Summary: 5 Stars
A few weeks ago I was in Chapters and I found this in the Humor section. Thinking it would make a good read, I purchased it and began reading it on the way home.
This is one of the funniest books ever written. I'm completely baffled as to how anyone could live their life like Tucker Max- which is why it's so funny. Tucker Max is a womanizer, alcoholic, and a complete loser, but lovable!
Pretty much the whole book is just stories about him getting drunk, having sex with pretty much every woman in the US and doing the stupidest things ever. His friends include the smart but loseriffic Slingblade, the lovable El Bingeroso, the trash talking Hate, and many more. The best stories are the Sushi Pants Story, the Austin Road Trip, Tucker MAx Book Tour, Tucker Tries Buttsex- Hilarity Does NOT Ensue, Tucker Goes to a Hockey Game, This Will Just Hurt A Little, and Floss.
The only ones I thought were lame were Tucker F--ks a Fat Girl (the majority of that one is pretty exaggerated) and Girl Beats Tucker At His Own Game- that one was a bit too disturbing for me. Apparently there's a movie coming out of this book later in the year, I can't wait for it.
So if you're not afraid to tolerate 330 pages of a total loser getting drunk and doing the stupidest things ever, feast your eyes on this!
Book Review: Loosen up people, these are your own desires whether you like it or not. Summary: 4 Stars
I got this book after contemplating it a while. I must say, it's funny. The people that get so offended by this type of stuff, I simply ask; why did you continue to read? Why did you "care" so much about it to read all of it AND submit a review? I just don't understand that.
Back to my review. The stories are hilarious, all most unbelievable. While I still fight to believe all of the stories I take it with a grain of salt and just laugh it up. I would ideally like to be like him, a different girl every night (or sometimes 3 different girls ever night). I can say that most single (and even married ;) ) men would agree too.
I bet he can die a happy man cause of what he has experienced. I hope they make a movie out of this!
The only negative about this book is that he is to self absorbed. I can only read so many stories of him giving props to himself. The "verbatum" he uses I am sure isn't 100% accurate (who can remember word for word talking 1-4 years after the incident), so he caters to making himself look superior when it probably went in less of a degree to this. All and all, take it with a grain of salt and READ IT!
Every guy needs a copy, maybe two, just in case a friend hasn't read it :)
Book Review: Perplexing Summary: 3 Stars
I do not know exactly how to review this book. First of all I initially confiscated this book from one of my High School students. When I read it I laughed and then I started to feel embarrassed. Now, I am no Saint, and I have a warped and filthy mind. However this book made me blush. Then I got to thinking, how my teenage female student was reading this and then the guys were reading and laughing like Beavis and Butthead. When I got home I held my daughter in my arms and realized the horror. Now as I sit here and contemplate this book I think to myself, is this for real? Did this guy in fact do all these things? They seem to be awfully outlandish and I am questioning the validity of his "stories". In fact I had buddy that had a "girlfriend" that had sex with him whenever he wanted, was loaded, older than he, and did not want a committed relationship. Yet none of us ever met her and he has NEVER had a visible girlfriend. Men are great liars when it comes to our bedroom follies. Read at your own risk and judge for yourself, but do not let your teenagers read it, for the love of God, they are frisky enough.
