Book Reviews of Jesus of Nazareth: From the Baptism in the Jordan to the TransfigurationBook Review: Unintelligable to the average reader Summary: 1 Stars
Based upon the style and the vocabulary used in the book it is best suited for people with a background in theology or biblical studies. The book is unintelligible to the average reader. Further the book is described as "my personal search 'for the face of the Lord'". I found nothing "personal" in the book at all. To me if a book is supposed to be about a "personal search" it should be written in first person and it was not.
Book Review: A learned discourse. Summary: 4 Stars
This is a well-written and insightful book about the ministry of Jesus Christ. It is not an easy read in that it is not for entertainment but rather it is a study of a period of time during Jesus' time on earth. I am not a Catholic so I did not have any idea as to the Pope's qualification as a theologian. Obviously, he is very qualified. I am a more informed Christian for having read this book.
Book Review: A great book written by a Great Pope! Summary: 5 Stars
This book, Jesus of Nazareth by Pope Benedict XVI, is a beautiful rendition of Jesus' life and parables. It delves deeply into Jesus' parables, especially the Good Samaritan. Pope Benedict XVI brings this particular parable into the present day by depicting Africa as the beaten down traveler in a way we all can relate to. This was a great book written by a Great Pope.
Book Review: Pope Benedict XVI Summary: 3 Stars
This was a difficult book to read. I felt I was in the desert, under the water, and in a synagogue all at one time. It was difficult to find reference material. Different versions of the bible were used.
Book Review: Jesus of Nazareth Summary: 5 Stars
Excellent book! The section which dissected the "Lord's Prayer" is powerful. Highly recommended for believers to strengthen their faith and for non-believers to get a bright insight.
