Book Reviews of John Shaw's Landscape PhotographyBook Review: Probably the best of his books Summary: 5 Stars
I have studied the photos several times over a three year period. Just reading his comments on his photogrpahs is very beneficial to improving my technique. The text is great and the book really inspires one to try harder to get good nature photogrpahs. A few photos where he says he opened up a stop I would not do so perhaps a few errors but it is best to bracket good scenes as film is cheaper than transportation. A wonderful book.
Book Review: Beginners, Look no further Summary: 5 Stars
John Shaw will explain the mysteries of photography to you: f-stops, shutter speeds, exposure compensation, film speed, lenses, filters, composition, light, and color all come together in this wonderful book from an expert to a beginner. John Shaw differs from Galen Rowell, in that Shaw takes pictures of the mundane, while Rowell's photographs are those of the majestic and the magical. The world has places for both
Book Review: A good overview of landscape photography Summary: 4 Stars
There are a lot of other photography books out there with the same general content as this book -- an overview of photographic techniques, equipment and the creative process as they relate to landscape photography. Although it is not an outstanding book, it is better than average, primarily because of the clear, direct way in which John Shaw writes, and the practical advice which he provides.
Book Review: Most helpful photography book Summary: 5 Stars
After reading many photography book, it is no doubt that this one is the best. Other photography books bog you down with a plethora of info to memorize. Not this book. John Shaw explains concepts clear and concise. The book is easy to read and understand. I have also come across many hints and tips never mentioned in other photography books. Read this book and improve your picture taking!
Book Review: Excellent book for amateur photographers! Summary: 5 Stars
Shaw does a wonderful job of 'filling in the gaps' for aspiring amateur photographers like myself. Everything needed for landscape photography - equipment, technique, and vision - is skillfully presented: neither losing the beginner, nor boring the more advanced shutterbug. I highly recommend "Landscape Photography" to anyone interested in landscape/nature photography.
