Book Review: Helpful and easy to use

These flash cards are great! The box is so small that I carry it in my purse -- I can study anytime I have a free moment. The words seem right on level; there are a lot of words I've seen but can't exactly define. Learning the subtleties of the definitions should help me get the best score possible. I also like the lists of synonyms for each word (there are some words listed there that don't have flashcards of their own, so you really get more than 500 words to study). And there are some in there I've seriously never seen before (and I'm a 34 year old English teacher!). Now I won't be unpleasantly surprised during the test.Book Review: GRE Flashcards

The Kaplan GRE Exam Vocab in a Box is a very helpful tool for prepping for the GRE vocabulary section. It allows you to take your studying on the go and also to have an easy way of having others test you on the words. I often take the box with me when riding on the bus or train or whenever I am somewhere where I have to wait for a long period of time. Each word on the flashcards comes with the definition, use in a sentence and most have plenty of synonyms which really help me in cases where I would have to look up the definition of a definition because I am not familiar with the word. These cards are super useful for studying for the GRE. I knew I needed to expand my vocabulary, and these cards are really helping. Im working through 20 a day, but its quick to learn the words and quiz myself with the cards. The pronunciation guide, sample sentence, and synonyms are very helpful as well. Definately worth the purchase. Only thing I would change is the quality of the paper- maybe they needed them thin to fit 500 in a box, but they definately arent made of cardstock or any other sturdy paper. Turned me off at the beginning, but definately doesn't matter now because they are so useful.Book Review: Useful flashcards

Lots of new vocabulary. A word, its type (noun, adjective, etc.), and its pronunciation are on one side of the card; a definition, a brief example of the word in a sentence, and synonyms are on the other side. They come alphabetically organized.
The box containing the cards is sturdy and the cards are made of good material, resistant to moderately frequent use. Maybe a small envelope to carry a couple dozen cards at a time would be a good addition, since carrying the whole box is not so convenient.
Overall, a great acquisition.

These cards are perfect. About 80% of the words I saw on the GRE were in this pack. I memorized every word in this box, and as a result scored in the 95th percentile. I see that other reviewers have commented that the definitions are insufficient, but I disagree. The definition and synonyms that these cards give you are what you need to select the correct answer on the GRE. You don't need a thorough understanding of the word- in fact, I think that might make it more difficult. I'm a very satisfied customer. I highly recommend this product.
