Book Reviews of Killing Floor (Jack Reacher, No. 1)

Book Review: Killing floor by Lee child
Summary: 3 Stars

Well i can't really say whether i like this book or not i ordered it on NOV.27 2010 it is now Dec30th and i as yet have not
received this book i get the tracking notice it says it was sent to the post office in my town but as yet it has not been delivered to me i don't think it is my place to have to go to the post office to find out what has happened to it for i know they will probably tell me they don't have it i think the sender should be responsible to inquire on what happened to it i gave my husband the series of books for Christmas but as you can guess this book is the first one of the series. I don't think i will be ordering from this particular vendor again.i think they should have sent a replacement when i complained after three weeks that i had not received it.

Book Review: Another Great Character & Series
Summary: 5 Stars

As a fan of fictional characters who develop and progress from story to story, the first Jack Reacher novel has me hooked. In my library, prior to my Kindle days, you can find John D. MacDonald's Travis McGee series; Sue Grafton's Kinsey Milhone series; and the grand daddy, Dashiell Hammett's Sam Spade. "The Killing Floor" gave me the sense of a character of depth with his own set of values in a world that is not fair or necessarily kind to its inhabitants. The writing style is sparse yet sufficient to set a visual stage and populate it with colorful characters of interest. I look forward to the next in the series - downloading today! Book Review: A Fine if Not Great Beginning
Summary: 4 Stars

I came into the Jack Reacher game late, having started with 'One Shot' and Die Trying' both of which I thought were excellent thrillers. So, I decided to go back to the beginning and see how the series all started. It's a totally engrossing and enjoyable read, although it definitely feels like a first novel. Some of the situations are more than a tad convenient, one of which Jack Reacher even cops to. Still Child is at his best when he's tying the action up in the final fifty pages or so with heart pounding suspense that never lets up. If this is the first thing you're reading by Child, you should find it a better than average book for the genre, if you're a fan it's nice to see the genesis.

Book Review: Enjoyable but Annoying
Summary: 4 Stars

Many reviewers pointed out the flaws in the Reacher books - he's a superhuman, knows everything etc. But I find his novels a nice escape although the writing style can get extremely annoying. Every character in the book constantly ends their sentences with "right?"

It's one thing if one character has this speech tic but when every character does it, then I blame the editor for simply being lazy. And Since Child is a Brit, the editor should have cleaned up the Britbonics that this supposedly US soldier uses like mobile phones..they're cells over here.

Complaints aside, it's still a fun ride. Nice to read about someone as smart, tough and dangerous as myself...

Book Review: One Jack is Like Another Jack
Summary: 4 Stars

Like many others I heard about Lee Child but never read any of his works. I decided to start at the beginning of the series. In retrospect this is an unbelievable story with too many coincidences to be believed. It just goes to prove that if someone can tell a great story you stay riveted and turn the page. At the end you realize that this could not have happened and that Jack Reacher is a super hero. He can beat up anyone and never needs to sleep. I could not feel myself thinking of another superhero, Jack Bauer.

All I can advise is to enjoy the story and escape from reality. I will read the whole series but take a break in between each one.
