Book Reviews of Killing Mr. Griffin

Book Review: It was not Mr. Griffin, but the book that was killed
Summary: 2 Stars

...I started reading this book in the afternoon and had to stop after the first few chapters. I mean, seriously. The girl is 16. 16-year-olds do not obsess about guys (or if they do, not one guy) enough to dream about him every night for years. If, oddly, they do, they will ASK HIM OUT after the first few months of obsession. Also, when 16-year-old girls get asked on a date, they do not just "comb their hair" and leave. Nuh-uh ... I know that instead a 16-year-old girl will try every new thing possible with her hair and then her clothes before leaving. I was literally cringing at the bad writing, so I put it down. We're reading it for English, so I had to pick it up again, which I did. The rest of the book was predictable-- I mean, duh about the pills. And the character of Mark was not developed very well... In fact, the entire book is based upon something that would never happen... The book makes it seem like all teenagers are impulsive idiots who kill people daily. Sorry hun, but no. If you aren't required to read this book, then don't. If you are, I'm sorry.

Book Review: Every Teen's Secret Fantasy Revealed
Summary: 4 Stars

Killing Mr. Griffin was the first Lois Duncan book that I have read and already I can't wait to get my hands on all of her other novels. This book tells what would happened if teens actually carried out their secret desires of killing their toughest, least understanding, and most hated teachers. The story has the five major sterotypes of high school;the shy, nerdy, smart girl;the beautiful, all-american, seinor body president; The popular, cute, blonde cheerleader;the misunderstood, expressionless, cool guy; and the big, loud, sports star. I liked how Lois Duncan brought these five different students together to hatch an unknownly deadly kidnapping plot. My two problems with this book is it kepted switching from one character to another and it was hard to tell who the definite main character was. It eaisly could have been Susan but then again David was a very important character. Also, I wanted to find out what the student's sentences were and if Mark went to jail or a mental hospital. But other than that I would definatly recommend this book to my friends.

Book Review: An abrupt and unsuspected ending
Summary: 4 Stars

Killing Mr. Griffin is a good book about some high school students who plan a revenge on their tough literature teacher, Mr. Griffin. But when their plans go wrong and their harmless practical joke turns into a murder case, their lives get turned upside down. They try to keep it secret but the guilt and anger finally gets to them and the truth is revealed. The book had a good beginning and it kept me interested the whole time. In some parts the book seemed to start dragging but then something really exciting would happed and it would recover itself. The book has a lot of suspenseful parts, which makes the book even more interesting and exciting to read. The author also did a good job on making the characters and plot believable, the way the characters reacted to each other and got along was just like if they were real high school students put in this position. The book ending was kind of abrupt and unsuspected but I was relieved for the book to end because there couldn't have been much more added to the story without it starting to drag.

Book Review: Killing Mr. Griffin
Summary: 5 Stars

Susan's the girl everyone call a teachers pet. Everyone knows, or has met, a kid like Susan. One that is quiet, smart, and not very popular. When Susan finally got the chance o hang out with David, Jeff, Mark, and Betsy, the cool kids, she thought everything would be different. All Susan wanted was to fit in and to be popular.
David, Jeff, Mark, and Betsy had an idea to kidnap heir English teacher so he would ease up on them in class. Little did they know, it would end his life.
I was really captivated by this book. It was an awesome suspense novel about a situation young adults can relate to, wanting our teachers to lighten up in class, yet we have no way to do so. That's where David, Mark, Jeff, Betsy got the idea of kidnapping. I was so wrapped up in Killing Mr. Griffin that I could barely put it down. This is one out of many suspense/mystery novels Lois Duncan has written. If you are interested in books like Killing Mr. Griffin or just want to know what happened to him, then Killing Mr. Griffin is the book for you.

Book Review: Mr. Griffin that kinda guy you would like to kill
Summary: 5 Stars

" Mr. Griffin that kind of guy you would like to kill "

This story is about a group of students who try to scare their teacher into being less strict on his grading but the plan all goes wrong. Mr. Griffin is the strictest teacher in the school he accepts no late work and is a very hard grader. Marc the main charter has finally had enough and comes up with a plan to scare Mr. Griffin into being less strict. Marc get some of his friends to help him with his plan, one day after school marc and his friends decided to kidnap Mr. Griffin they blindfolded him and tied his arms and legs together. They drove him out into the mountains in the middle of nowhere and let him go. The next day one of marcs friends decides to cheek on Mr. Griffin and discovers that something has gone terrible wrong. My favorite chapter is six when the kidnap Mr. Griffin in the parking lot. I would say this book is appropriate for any one over 13 because there is a lot of cursing in the book. I defiantly recommend you to read this book.
