Book Review: Killing Mr. Griffin
Summary: 4 Stars

Lois Duncan's Killing Mr. Griffin, is a classic horror book involving high school kids and the revenge plot for their dreaded english teacher. The plot is farely unrealistic. Basically the sceme goes all wrong. The main characters include Suzan, Mark, Jeff, David, and Betsy.

Killing Mr. Griffin, is a young adult novel, thus meaning there is not a lot of depth or literarely devices used throughout the novel. This should be expected for a young adult horror novel. Young adults should like the easy reading and easy to follow material.

Duncan accurately records the thoughts of a high school misfit. She does this through Suzan, who we follow during a day at high school. Duncan also the third person omniscient, this allows the reader to get close the characters through out the book. The point of view confuses the reader as to who the main character is.

Overall, the book is perfect for a elementary students with shorter attention spands. It supplies the kids with constant action and easy reading

Book Review: Lois Duncan is a great writer
Summary: 4 Stars

I am 36 and still re-read Lois Duncan's books (tell you anything, people??). Why? She's a really great writer and they are as entertaining now as they were when I was still an adolescent. I have read almost all of her books, including the very sad one about her daughter's murder (which I highly recommend - it's fascinating and absorbing). She is skillful, entertaining, and manages to convey depth with very few words. Killing Mr. Griffin is perhaps not my favorite of her books (Summer of Fear would probably be my favorite), but the premise is irresistible. Basically a bunch of insecure students get their vulnerabilities exploited by the sociopathic friend in their midst. He hatches a plot to kill Mr. Griffin, something they all agree to do - all of them have felt their perfectionist teacher's sting one time too many.
This is a good read, and it was written in 1978 - Duncan's books are far finer than anything more current in "YA" fiction so far as I'm concerned!
A good read, like all her books.

Book Review: killing mr.griffin
Summary: 4 Stars

Killing Mr. Griffin is an overwhelming mysterious book. In this book Jeff, mark, Betsy, David, and sue were just trying to scare him but some things go wrong and in this book. After killing Mr. Griffin everything goes wrong they panic in disgust. Sue a very emotional character cries a lot in this book. I would suggest this book to people how can read books that have fear and peer pressure. My rating from 1-10 it would be a 9. I would not recommend this book to kids at least younger then 8-9 years of age. I think that this book was one of the best books that I have read through my years. This book is suitable for kids and grown ups. Also it could be used as a family book. A scene in killing Mr. Griffin is when David and sue decide to go find Mr. Griffin in the spot they put him at with out waiting fro Jeff, mark, and Betsy. David and sue find his eyes wide open not moving. Sue and David yell to him so he could move a little so they could untie him from the back. Then they realize he's died.

Book Review: a gripping tale of wishful thinking, kidnap, murder, & lies
Summary: 5 Stars

Killing Mr. Griffin is a book which can stand the test of time. I first read the book in 1983 while in middle school. After my dog ate the cover, I purchased the book and have reread it three time, the last being April 6, 1997. I decided to read the book because of the TV movie airing. Overall, the book showed a great deal of emotions and the character profiles were are target. Ms. Duncan correctly described the life and time of high schoolers. The book keeps the reader captivated from start to finish. The one aspect which has changed as the years have gone by is the sympathy one feels for Mr. Griffin. When I first read it , the notion of kidnapping a teacher was interesting and then the reader feels the anquish and pain of the kids as they try to cover up their wrong. Now, after I reread the book, the reader felt the pain of Mr. Griffin as well as the hurt and sorrow for his wife. In conclusion, the reader recommends the book for anyone interesting in this genre
