Book Review: The best concise movie guide, all new 2006 films are there

Why do we read a review of a movie? To confirm our own opinion? To be angry when the opinion of the well-known reviewer differs from yours? To find out if we want to visit the theater, or buy the DVD, or rent it?
For me it is all of those - but mostly the latter. And I hate spoilers. Problem is: I consider almost any info about the storyline a spoiler.
Comes in Leonard Maltin. I buy his Movie and Video Guide since 1994, every year. The bulk of the text is of course the same each year, but there are certainly about 300 entries new each time. And I certainly consider those 300 reviews worth the price of a new edition. Based on his formula, indeed with no spoilers at all, I can safely determine what MY opinion of the film might be, and more important: do I want to see it in the cinema, or want to own the DVD or am I not interested at all. Safely: because I have yet to be unpleasantly surprised even once. Even if I don't always agree with the book's verdict of a particular film. But Leonard Maltin tells me what I want to know about that movie.
The 2007 version is solid as usual. However, be aware that it can only contain movies released before the release date of the book. The year indication, therefore, is historically one number too high, but given that restriction you will find it very complete.
If you want a paperback version, you can choose a slightly bigger one, or a smaller book: both have the same content as far as I could determine.
And if this is going to be your first Leonard Maltin Movie Guide: it's extremely inexpensive for all the information you get. As I said, I find the price already acceptable for the upgrade part!
