Book Reviews of Lessons of DesireBook Review: In deep water Summary: 5 Stars
Confident Phaedra Blair finds herself in deep water--both in her relationship with Lord Elliot, and with mystery and danger as she seeks the man who blighted the last year of her mother's life. Her journey takes her to areas of Italy that resent female independence even more than England.
Once again, Hunter manages to intrigue with both suspense and romantic tension. Objects d'art form a central theme, and the authenticity of the research here lend substance and credibility to the story without making it heavy or detracting from the pace. I love this book!
Book Review: Madeline's One of the BEST, this one just misses... Summary: 1 Stars
I want NEW readers of Madeline Hunter to stick with her, if you're one of those who read this book and didn't like it! Her work is usually top-notch, some of the best out there in romantic fiction, but this book - well, I don't know what happened. Phaedra & Elliot started off as very interesting characters, as did the story, but it quickly nose-dived into utter boredom. I hope Ms. Hunter doesn't assume that we readers will just accept ANYTHING she writes simply because SHE'S doing the writing. We won't. It's gotta be interesting!!!!
Book Review: Not worth finishing! Summary: 1 Stars
I typically love Ms. Hunter's books, but this one is purely annoying.
I rarely do not finish a book, but I have been gutting my way through it for three nights. Usually I read a book a night.
The heroine is boring, foolhardy, even irritating at best.
The hero is lacking depth.
The secondary characters have no character!
The storyline is innane, trying to be a huge mystery but failing to weave any kind of intrigue.
I think a universal remote control instruction manual would have had more appeal.
Book Review: this was a miss Summary: 2 Stars
i normally like ms hunter alot . but this book just went round and round in a very silly circle . if the heroine had acted half that badly she couldnt have lived in that society at all. and you couldnt have lived without some man helping life was just to hard back then. and women didnt let you stay in their houses without a chaparone if you werent related to them . it was just the norm. and believe me woman didnt deveate from the norm. not and be able to do any thing of a business nature she would have been shunned .
Book Review: Lessons of Desire Review Summary: 5 Stars
The second book in the series from Madeline Hunter after Rules of Seduction is an excellent book. Every Madeline Hunter book I read gets better and better. She has such real characters and sex scenes are always sensual and romantic. I especially enjoy how realistic her characters are and how they work into the history of the era where they find themselves. I highly recommend this book and any other Hunter books you can get your hands on. I have read all of her books and I only recently discovered her.
