Book Review: I am so stoked!
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is a keeper. I read the book in one night and have been using it daily. I have tried a few recipes, and was not disappointed. The week before receiving the book, I had already decided to eliminated white starches and red meats. Upon recieving the book, I am now basically raw. I am not too hungry, and when I am I eat. I have not had any cravings. And I am alert this week. My first week, I was a little quesy, small headaches, but nothing alarming. I did lose 8 pounds the first week. My skin is no longer itchy. I suffer from multiple conditions, which seem to be ebbing away. I am such a happy camper today.

I am so excited to share this with you. I am not an expert at nutrition, but I know half the battle is to get the right foods into your system. Internally if you work right, all will be well with you.

Thank you Alissa. I hope you write some more books!

Heather

Book Review: depends on your expectations?
Summary: 3 Stars

I think this book has some good recipe ideas, and if that's what you bought this book for, then you might be pleased, she obviously has some creative recipe ideas..
But, if you bought this book wanting a good guide to help you transition to the raw diet, I think this book does not do a very good job of that.

first I think it doesn't deal with the concerns people have and the problems you can encounter very well, honestly not at all. She is a person who has been on the raw diet for quite a long time, but the transition process wasn't easy for her, and it isn't easy for other people either. But it seemingly didn't talk about all that you could encounter very much. There are a lot of concerns that people have, and it didn't do much to address these issues. I think it needed to be more organized.

but overall it's ok, and I am thankful for the ideas.

Book Review: I really do like this book
Summary: 4 Stars

I really do like this book. I have made a few of the recipes and they taste really good. The recipes are easy to follow and have worked out when I have made them. You don't need to buy too many expensive items from the health food shop.
A few things that I can see wrong with this book are there are not enough pics of the food, only a few in the middle of the book. I am a visual person and photos help when I make anything.
Personally I would have prefered this book to not have the stuff in the front of someone elses diet for so many months and the before and afters.
The sprouting guide and dehydrator stuff is great. Picks of what the sprouts should look like would have been great also because as I am new to raw food I am not sure if they are meant to be like small plants or just as they start sprouting.
Overall I have liked what I have made and will make more.

Book Review: By far my favorite raw book~
Summary: 5 Stars

Alissa Cohen's book is hands down my favorite raw book...both for the informative and uplifting approach to the raw way of life and the fantastic recipes. Her upfront and do-able explanation of how to live a healthy and vibrant life on raw, emzyme-rich foods is a godsend to people both exploring their options and gathering info on raw foodism and those living the raw lifestyle. Her program is all about abundance.
I have ordered a number of things from Alissa including the book, DVD and spiral slicer among other things and have been wonderfully satisfied with the service provided and the positive goodness of she and her staff. Alissa's whole approach to life and the raw food community is one of completely positve light, energy and support. I would highly recommend her book/dvd AND her approach to raw foodism for a healthy, glowing life.

Book Review: "Old School" Raw Food Recipe disasters
Summary: 2 Stars

I really want to say I like this book, but I find that all of the recipes that I make are disgusting. I am a great chef and can create wonderful dishes, but when I try one out of Alissa's book, it turns out inedible. Not only are they incredibly involved, they take a lot of patience and planning to get it right. I made the "amazing" calzones and they were gross, I never ever want to eat another flax cracker again, and if I hear/read the phrase "date nut torte" one more time I'm going to puke.
this was my first raw food book, and while it was great for back then, there are better books with better recipes. These recipes don't have many of the luxury ingredients that are available now. I would say buy her second book, I will because it's been getting great reviews. Living on Live Food is too outdated to stand out in the current raw food craze
