Book Review: great raw food recovery
Summary: 4 Stars

This lady has taken stock of what a raw food diet can do for your body, her body, and a number of her friends bodies. She has before and after photos and logs of some of the healing crises these people went through. Plus she has about 300 or so recipes for creating delicious alternative meals and snacks to the stuff that's been poisoning you. What I now know about salt I would recommend Amino Acids instead of any kind of salt in her recipes; but she has faithfully adhered to a raw and not fermented or semi-cooked diet and that is what makes the book such a good show and tell-handy to have in the kitchen kind of gem. I lost over a hundred points on my cholesterol, thirty pounds I no longer carry around my waist and thighs, no more blood in the urine, no more getting up in the middle of the night to go to urinate, and my skin got a healthier glow.

Book Review: BEST raw & live food book ever!

alissa has done an amazing job!! i own all the major raw food books available. but Alissa has topped them all! this is not just a recipe book - although the dishes are delicious. but it is truly a guide to how to evolve into a living foods healthy life. too many other authors are fanatical or extremists concerning raw foods. Alissa has a direct, simple, and practical approach that makes it ok to start wherever you are at. and she delivers all the necessary tools and info to do so. the recipes are fantastic! my wife and use Alissa'a recipes on a daily basis to make great and satisfying meals. i wish i could give this MORE than 5 stars! by the way, i also HIGHLY recommend Alissa'a DVD. it has a variety of dishes that she shows you how to prepare. and it is easy to follow. definitely get it with her book and you'll be well on your way!

Book Review: Another fad Diet or a Lifestyle change?

I really liked this book, however it had alot of added "stuff" in it. This book was a combination of a diet book and a recipe book.
It has photos of over weight people who decided to start this "raw food diet"...and after a few weeks, it shows them in good shape.
There are also plenty of journal entries from the people who were loosing weight by following the book. I'm happy for those people, but I'm not wanting to diet. I don't need to loose any weight, I just need to learn about Raw foods and how to make them taste great for my family.
There are some recipes at the back of the book worth trying, and some beautiful photos of the food recipes. This book also gives some info. about sprouting and dehydrating. I guess I'd recommend this book for those who are really interested in trying a new diet out.

Book Review: Great way to start Raw

This was one of the first books I got when I started going raw about a month ago (by the way, I have lost close to 15 lbs since going raw, and I haven't even had time to do much exercising yet). The other book had gourmet recipes, but what I love about this book is that it has a lot of basic information. There is a sprouting guide and lots of info on how to eat raw. There are also a lot of basic recipes - cheeses, breads, crackers, even whipped cream - that can help you transition. I have only tried a few recipes in the book, but so far, they have been great (I love the chocolate turtles). The only negative I have found so far is that the recipes don't give the number of servings, and since it is always best to eat it right away, it would be nice to know if it needs to be split before making it.

Book Review: "A"lissa is for "A"wesome!

I was so tentative to buy such an expensive book...I am in awe of the comprehensiveness of Alissa's work. Her book gives so much information about going raw and EVERY recipe- that is right-EVERY recipe we have tried has been FANTASTIC!!!
Her restaurant is wonderful and her book has many of the recipes that we enjoyed when dining there. I have been able to make recipes for guests and they also enjoy it. WE love her marinara sauce and the pad thai I have made twice now. She is very clear about the dehydrating process- the recipes are simple and come out as they are described. I just can't say enough about this book except that I was hesitant about the size and cost (and can I mention the weight??- whew it is one heavy book!!!) but I am amazed every time I use it ,read it or refer to it!
