Book Reviews of Living on Live FoodBook Review: Great info & taste, but not totally healthy Summary: 3 Stars
This was my first introduction to raw foods so read the first few chapters cover to cover and tried several of the recipes. Most were VERY good, but the diet didn't give me the tons of energy I'd hoped/read about. After reading more online about the raw diet, I discovered that the majority of the recipes out there are high in fat -- some even moreso than the standard American diet! I'm now looking into the 80/10/10 approach to eating raw for the most part, but plan to still use recipes from this book when I feel like splurging!
Book Review: The BEST Raw book available to date Summary: 5 Stars
I read this book, and although I have many others, I find this to be my number one favorite, as far as recipes, testimonials, pictures, everything, I then bought two more as gifts. This book tells you all about why to eat raw foods, and how to eat raw foods, it has a 30 day menu plan, and a shopping list to get you started. There are so many recipes almost 300, that you could make one each day for almost a year. I have made over 50 of these recipes and they all are outstanding, Alissa Cohen, and her book RAWKS!!!,
Book Review: very creative Summary: 4 Stars
I really feel great when i eat all raw, it's like a cleansing fast but you still get energy and nutrition. Lots of cool recipes, though not really into the imitation raw Italian chicken parmesan types of things - raw cashew cheese anyone??? The raw diet is supposedly based on what we ate when we were still climbing trees but it seems that many raw foodists still want to fit in with mainstream society, 'he'll have a meat burger but i'll have the raw grain burger with cashew cheese' Why bother?
Book Review: If you want to get into Raw Food you need this book! Summary: 5 Stars
When you first hear/read about raw food you immediately think you will survive on fruit & vegetables and things will get boring. Alissa's book offers some really tasy recipes and inspires you to make your own. I highly recommend you buy the dvd too.
My whole family (wife & three boys aged 2,4 & 6) are all hooked onto raw food and we love it and Alissa's book is something we refer to time & time again and recommend it to everyone we find are interested.
Book Review: Not worth the price! Summary: 3 Stars
While there are a few good recipes in this book, it is not worth the price. It's worth about $10 to $15 tops.
There are many more raw food recipe books written by people who have much more knowledge on the raw food lifestyle. The food combining is bad and most of the recipes call for nuts. This could explain why the author is overweight in all her pictures. That was a red flag for me.
Try to check it out before you buy, otherwise you might feel cheated.
