Book Reviews of Lonely Planet Europe On A ShoestringBook Review: Great help in research Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this book very well aware that prices change and so do places but I was more after the run down of what the countries had to offer. With the information that it provides I can make out a rough estimate on costs for a very large trip I am about to take. I have a lot of these books and have always found them very to be handy. You could always look on the net for information about places but I work on a computer all day and the last thing I want to do when I'm at home is to be searching on the web. It's much handier to have the information at hand at my leisure.
Book Review: Lonely Planet Europe Summary: 3 Stars
For massive information pre-europe travel, this book can help with planning, sites, fair amount of maps, eating and drinking sites for many european cities.
Pros: Based on budget travelling so you receive good info on affordable places. Multiple maps, where to go, what to do.
Cons: small print, book is bulky and can't lug to Europe very well. Covers maybe too much in one book....
3 stars, good Europe planning guide.
Book Review: Essential, perfect for a road trip Summary: 4 Stars
I bought Europe in a Shoestring as a preparation for my move from Italy to the UK. The book is an excellent reference for accomodation and eating, plus it gives the essential info on places to see and where to go.
I'm planning to travel through Germany, France, Luxemburg and Belgium, spending a day and an half in each destination. I wouldn't suggest this guide for detailed notions and longer stays.
Book Review: Great Guide Inside!! Summary: 4 Stars
This book is really useful. However, the problem wih Lonely Planet in general is that you need to buy he most updated version everytime because things change and the lonely planet people know this. And they keep updating it.
Luckyly this edition is the newest one because it has the wedding of prince of denmark in it which is pretty recent.
All in all this is an excellent bok!
Book Review: Brief, accurate and useful Summary: 5 Stars
This is the most useful guide for budget travel in Europe. As it covers all of Europe in one book it is quite brief but every little bit written inside is useful. I would recommend this guide to anyone travelling to more than a couple countries in Europe. If you only plan to travel to one or two countries then buying a country specific guide is a better idea. But for longer trips this is the one.
