Book Review: A Missing Scene (Spoilers)

I first read Lonesome Dove 21 years ago, and loved it. Recently, I decided to listen to it, and downloaded the audio files from Audible.com with Lee Horsley narrating. The narration is superb, although the audio quality is uneven (volume varies.) The voices Horsley uses for Gus McCrae and Blue Duck are particularly good.
However, this is not the same book I read 21 years ago - or so I do believe. Someone PLEASE correct me if I am wrong. McMurty evidently had second thoughts about one of his star scenes and revised it completely. To wit:

In the novel as I recall it, Gus finally runs down Blue Duck and the almost inhumanly murderous crew who hold her captive. He is on the open range, and slaughters his horse to provide cover. The gang of Indians and renegades take shots at him. At one point, they move out of range, although Gus continues to take the occasional shot. One of the renegades is amused by this and begins to taunt him, dancing and shouting out of range. Gus, however, has a long range site, sort of a mortar thing, sights carefully, and shoots. The bullet descends out of the sky and hits the taunter in the chest. Very satisfying - as I said, one of the star, unforgettable scenes in the book.
That scene is mising in the audio. It is also missing in the Kindle edition, which was only released on 6/1/10. I could believe I was misremembering or losing my mind, but the scene is in the mini-series (as well it should be - a sensational scene, and deeply rewarding to the reader.
Can anyone help me here? What's going on?
