Book Reviews of Loyalty in DeathBook Review: Superior Summary: 5 Stars
This series is additive! This is the third time I've read Loyalty and I still love it. The characters continue to evolve and grow and entertain.
As always, the attraction/sex between the main characters is juicy. Another romance develops and has its own appeal.
If you haven't read the 'in Death' series, you're denying yourself hours of entertainment and enjoyment. Take the advice I was given, though, and read them in order so you meet the main cast members as they come into play and develop into first-rate characters.
Thank you Ms. Robb!

Book Review: Feeling smug.... Summary: 5 Stars
Are you new to the "...In Death" series? Go back andstart at the very beginning, Naked in Death. Only then , you'll feelSMUG like the rest of us. Because we, the readers of all 8 books, understand all the "inside" jokes, nuances and situations. We've been through thick and thin with the whole crew: Eve, Roarke, Peabody, McNab, Mavis, etc. As much as I love Eve, she can be frustrating with that cold attitude of hers. Lucky for her, she's married to the eternally patient Roarke. And speaking of Roarke -he's the only smoker I would let into my life. (The image of him in his white satin shirt, smoking one of those long, cigarello type cigarettes, and a brandy in his other hand....Damn sexy!) I love this series! But does the lack of a preview at the end of this book indicate that this is the end of the series? Let it not be so!
Book Review: IN DEATH is getting a tad predictable... Summary: 4 Stars
CONSPIRACY IN DEATH featured the obligatory story about a detective in a fight to keep her badge; LOYALTY IN DEATH features the obligatory visit to the Statue of Liberty for novels set in New York City. What's next? Will one of her faithful sidekicks (Peabody, Feeney, McNab) go rogue on Eve? Will she start to suspect that Roarke is having an affair? Will Summerset be the one who does it?That said, LOYALTY IN DEATH was certainly a wonderful read. It was tight and suspenseful and for once I didn't predict the ending before Ms. Robb revealed it. Please keep writing the IN DEATH series, J. D.; just don't follow the formula too closely. Unpredictability is fun! (And before you retire Eve -- which unfortunately has to happen some day -- please let us see her and Roarke with children! I'd love to see rough, tough Eve pregnant.)
Book Review: An Average Novel in a wonderful series Summary: 3 Stars
After reading through the five star ratings, I felt compelled to add my own .02 cents. First, J.D.'s best is above average expectations, meaning that when she's average, she's still better than most. With that said, I've also read all of the previous "In Death" books and find that Loyalty in Death is just average. I skipped several pages, the ending was a bit too pat. Her best novels of this exceptionally wonderful series has to be the first one, Naked In Death, followed by Glory In Death, Rapture In Death. I based that on the sleepless nights I had reading them. All the others weren't bad. I just didn't read them all in one sitting. It's takes a very talented writer to substain this type of momentum with their readers giving them glorious reviews for each and every book. What is this? The 9th book? I'm impressed.
Book Review: Waiting impatiently for the next one! Summary: 5 Stars
I've read them all, like most of her fans and I have a very hard time waiting for the next one. I always enjoy the action between Eve & Roake, this time was no different. I really liked it when she went so far as the ask for his help and at one point they actually team-up. The other characters are just as interesting and it was great to learn more about Peabody. I'm always disappointed when her next book takes so long before it's in the stores. This time I made by purchases and was asked if I found everything, when I replied NO, I looking for JD Robb's latest. The clerk was very helpful in telling me it wasn't on the shelves, but he did happen to have it, it just wasn't unpacked. Of course I waited for it. He also made the statement that he gets the same reaction from all of JD Robb's fans and they are very loyal.
