Book Reviews of Luncheon of the Boating PartyBook Review: Incredibly boring!! Summary: 1 Stars
Wow, I had so much trouble finishing this book! I kept falling asleep while trying to get through it. The problem is that I just didn't care about any of the characters, the pace was incredibly slow, and the dialogue was insipid. What a shame, as a book like this could have had so much more potential (and I do like some of her other books).
Book Review: About Renoir's Painting And The People In It Summary: 5 Stars
This is an axcellent book about Renoir's painting of the boating party. I thought it was easy to read and understand. I feel I know each of the people in the painting and some of their background. I also feel I know a little about Renoir and his life. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in paintings and how they came about.
Book Review: Couldn't finish it. Summary: 2 Stars
After reading over half of this book, I realized I simply didn't care what happened. I put the book away without finishing it, and that almost never happens for me. I felt the characters were flat and the plot never materialized. While the imagery was up to par, this is not one of Vreeland's better works.
Book Review: Luncheon of the Boating Party Summary: 5 Stars
This is one of my favorite books! Vreeland is an excellent writer. I bought more to share with my friends and to sell in my gift shop. I have a print copy of Luncheon of the Boating party hangin in my restaurant.
Book Review: Wonderful Absorbing Read Summary: 5 Stars
Absorbing, well-paced, populated by a cast of varied characters. Not light literature, not fluff. History and Art History buffs and general fiction / literature readers enjoy this one.
