Book Reviews of Lush Life: A Novel

Book Review: lush life
Summary: 3 Stars

Pictures street life in a Lower East Side going downhill. Interesting interludes of cops and those they pursue. No longer resembles the Lower East Side of New York of yesteryear, the East Side of hippies, pushcarts, Yiddish theater. Sometimes the hip language doesn't translate to the the non-hip reader. Not in the league with Dickens or Dreiser as claimed by one reviewer.

Book Review: Not Price's best
Summary: 2 Stars

Although there are some wonderful characters in this novel as well as a profound sense of place, it's not one of Price's better efforts. I found the writing to be labored and a bit self indulgent. Also, the book went on too long and would have benefited greatly from a better editor. That said, if you're a die-hard Price fan, Lush Life still may be worth a read.

Book Review: Order Fulfilled
Summary: 5 Stars

My book arrived at an unexpected time, much thanks to the seller for very expedient service. Just before I was ready to start reading something new, my order arrived much earlier than expected. I'am ver satisfied with the convenience. The item was as described and the seller deserves all gratuity for fulfilling my order and his duty. Thanks again.

Book Review: Fantastic!
Summary: 5 Stars

Richard Price does it again with LUSH LIFE. The dialogue in this novel is fantastic. Richard Price is the kind of writer that will make you stay up at night wondering what will happen next-make you wonder if the characters will turn out OK when everything is said and done. I only hope that my own writing can someday stack up with his.

Book Review: Rotten Reader Bait
Summary: 1 Stars

Unbelievably mediocre, given all the positive buzz. Too long, short on plot and phony atmospherics. Richard Price simply can't write novels and he should stick to turning out TV scripts, if he still has the professional connections and is strictly supervised. He pulled off a damn good scam though, what with all the praise.
