Book Reviews of Mac OS X Tiger: Missing ManualBook Review: Excelent book for OS X users, a must have Summary: 4 Stars
The Missing Manual does a great job in explaining every aspect of Mac OS X. If you're an experienced user to Mac OS, then you can easily browse through the topics and read what the differences are. New users, such as myself, will find it easy to go over the features in the OS and test them as much, or as little, as you want.
I highly recommend this book for anyone with Mac OS X. If for no other purpose than a handy reference guide.
Book Review: Excellent resource Summary: 5 Stars
This book is an essential item on your desk if you are new to Tiger. Very comprehensive and easy to understand for the layman. I recently switched to Mac after years of M$ and this guide has been really helpful in my explorations of this elegant operating system. I highly recommend it; I've gotten a lot of use out of it!
(PS: it also seems good for the techie as well; there's a whole chapter on scripts and stuff that I don't understand!)
Book Review: GREAT MANUAL! Summary: 5 Stars
This manual is awesome for all your mac needs. It really has so much detail and anyone can use it to fix most problems on their mac. It has really been useful since I purchased it about a month ago. Has really helped with startup issues (not that Macs have very many). And for general use, it contains great details about how to use OS X and the programs that come with it! Would definitely recommend for all Mac users, especially beginners!
Book Review: An Eye for Everything Summary: 5 Stars
I started out to write an eye for detail, but Pogue's Missing Manual books go far beyond that. He always uses his comprehensive knowledge to weave a fabric that balances the aim of a program with the fiddling details that drive users crazy. As soon as I had skimmed the Mac OS X book I set it aside and read one section a day. Nothing escapes his eye, every section clears up something that I had always wondered about. Great stuff!
Book Review: Mac OS X "The Missing Manual" Tiger Edition Summary: 5 Stars
In the past I have used extensively the PANTHER EDITION of "The Missing Manual" for
OS X. I can't imagine any serious person who works in this arena without this manual.
The Tiger Edition is the update for Tiger OS and is beautifully laid out. It is easy to use
and David Pogue, the author, has brought his expertise in a clearly written bestseller for anyone to understand. A MUST for any serious computer person.
