Book Reviews of Magic Lantern Guides: Nikon D80Book Review: Magic Lantern Guides: Nikon D80 (Magic Lantern Guides) reviewed Summary: 5 Stars
This book makes for easier reading and comprehension of the particulars of operating and getting the most out of the Nikon D80 digital camera. While I have'nt gotten completely into this book, I have found it easier to understand than the manual which comes with the camera. I expect this book to help me be a better photographer with this camera, and so far it has not let me down. I have found it not only easier to understand, but also more in depth on the subjects I have researched within its pages. Thus, I reccomend this book at least over the nikon manual.
Book Review: Great info Summary: 4 Stars
This book has a lot of extra info from the user manual. The book gives a lot of depth to all of many features of this camera and also gives some interesting back stories.
The author does not like auto features at all, but I found that the auto features work rather good on this camera. But he goes into the manual setting in great detail.
The index is rather poor but it is laid out so that you can find stuff okay.
I learned three or four solid things from the book so it was worth it.
Book Review: white balance Summary: 4 Stars
I have not finished this book yet, but it is a manual not a novel: having said that... Well bound, heavy white paper, big text, images sharp, clear in strong half tone. There are no colour plates but the black and whites are stunning. This effort is in contrast to the original Nikon manual which is none of the above. There are a few curious spell errors, however,if you are a digislr rookie like me you will want all the help you can get to understand the encyclopeadic volume of informaton it takes to get the most from this fabulous camera.
Book Review: Very informative Summary: 4 Stars
This book was very informative and well written. It is a must have for the D80 owner as it provides information that you can't find anywhere else. You will learn about the different types of lenses and how to use them best. You will also learn about histograms in a very easy to understand fashion and how to utilize it to have better pictures. The writer teaches you about the different accessories including filters and how and when to use them, and most of all you will learn how to properly clean and care for your camera.
Book Review: Easier reading than Nikon Manual Summary: 4 Stars
Take this book and your D80 and shut yourselves up in your home office for a week and you just might start to understand what your D80 can do. With the Nikon supplied manual you would probably come out in a month looking like an old Howard Hughes saying Uh?????? You still need to take bunches of pictures in various situations to really become one with your camera but this guide helps. They must have had Middle schoolers proof read it because there are a lot of word errors.
