Book Reviews of Magic Lantern Guides: Pentax K-7Book Review: Comprehensive and helpful Summary: 4 Stars
Other than the packaged manual for the k7, this is the only book that I've found completely dedicated to the K7. It's comprehensive and full of tips. The only drawback is that it's published in a font size equal to the manual(micro-tiny). That's nice for a small reference book to keep in your camera bag, but for reading to learn, it's a definite strain on eyes you want to save for taking pictures. I'd love a copy with larger print just to sit and absorb all the information it has to offer. Except for that I'd have given the book five stars. It's a keeper!
Book Review: The Missing User Guide Summary: 4 Stars
I teach digital photography at our local community college and see many photography book and manuals. I was so satisfied with my first Pentax Magic Lantern Guide (Pentax K-10) that I immediately purchased this guide for my new Pentax K-7. This book completes and expands on the information missing from the Pantax User Manual. It also explains why something is important and how to use it, not just what it is. If you want to get the most from your Pentax K-7 and demystify some of the camera's features and functions, this is the book to have.
Book Review: Useful Summary: 5 Stars
This book is a godsend. Granted, the manual that comes with the K-7 camera is certainly comprehensive-- but the Magic Lantern guide benefits from excellent design and layout, in addition to more natural presentation of information. In other words, it's a heck of a lot easier to read than the K-7 manual, and it'll provide you with great basic information on photography to help get you started. If you're buying a K-7, make room in your budget for this book as well.
Book Review: Magic Lantern Guide K7 Summary: 5 Stars
This book contains a wealth of information that is not available in the Pentax K7 owners manual. The owners manual and this book together will help you master the K7. As an example the Magic Lantern Guide tells you that you need a class 6 SDHC card in order to be able to capture a number of high speed images. I could not locate this information anywhere but in the Magic Lantern guide. The book is definitely recommended.
Book Review: Well worth the time and money Summary: 5 Stars
Althogh the K-7 users manual is one of the best I've seen its still as dry as a communion waffer. This manual is written by a photographer for photographers. I'm only halfway through it but my knoledge of the k-7 has increased tremendously (it should be know this is my first DSLR so any new knoledge is tremendous!) Amazon had it on my door step in three days. Both the book and Amazon are truly amazing.
