Book Reviews of Making Color SingBook Review: outstandingly clear Summary: 5 Stars
Like the brilliant hues in her examples, Ms. Dobie's book is outstandingly clear and strong. Her logical, step-by-step examples give the lie to the notion that creative people can't explain their gift. She doesn't need to write another book because this says it all, but such an inspirational work makes you want to hear more. This book has prompted me to cull from my library books by other authors that now look dull after experiencing Making Color Sing.
Book Review: Great information in this book Summary: 5 Stars
Making Color Sing
I am new to the medium of watercolors and have found this book to be very helpful. The author keeps the selection of colors to a minimum in order to keep your costs down but also helping you to learn the aspects of what each color can do. This is a book that I feel I can really learn and become a better artist.
Book Review: Best all round book on color & design! Summary: 5 Stars
I have been painting for many years and keep on referring back to this book over and over, because the principles therein are so helpful. Clearly presented, basic "truths" about color and design that will lift the caliber of what you produce--why? Because you will paint with knowledge and the confidence that accompanies knowledge. I've read most of the books out there on watercolor, but this one is Queen of them all! Happy painting!
Book Review: Making Color Sing Summary: 5 Stars
This book is great but be forewarned that there is a LOT of fairly technical explanation and a lot to absorb. But if that's what you are wanting (I did want that) the author is easy to read and doles out the information in digestible chapters. If you want explanations and content, you'll get your money's worth. And oh yeah...her watercolors in the book are amazing, so she must know what she's talking about!
Book Review: The book for any aspiring watercolorist Summary: 5 Stars
In the book, "Making Color Sing", Jeanne Dobie has dealt adequately with the elusive aspects of the science of colour in a logical, clear and comprehensive manner. After putting her theories to the test I am able to attack my paintings with added confidence and am delighted with the results.
I confidently recommend this book as an excellent resource.
