Book Review: Okay book, but...

The book cover is misleading. It gives the impression that this book is geared towards painting wet on wet. But its really a mixture of wet on wet and painting positive/negative. Which is okay if that's your style of painting. I think the artist is very talented, however, the biggest flaw for anyone is to make assumptions. I have been a student of water color for just over 12 months.
In the beginning I bought books on the subject locally rather indiscriminately and regret some of those purchases now as I do not use them as a resource often
Amongst those books I treasure and do refer to frequently are Robert Wade's Watercolor Workshop Handbook and Making Color Sing by Jeanne Dobie.

i learned of the book making color sing in an art workshop. This is a terrific book. Not only is it beautiful and inspiring, it contains alot of information about how to use color in watercolor painting. This book is loaded with excellent information on making your watercolor paintings really sing with color. Many other books are full of fluff and the same old same old. This author is a consummate teacher and shares tips and techniques that make it all easy. I LOVE this book. It has become my art bible!
