When I bought this book, I read it from cover to cover. There was so much to learn, without even baking something.I have tried several recipes from the book, so far I haven't found one person who didn't think the brownies were to die for. For the first time ever I baked myself a birthday cake and as fabulous as it looked in the book, it was even better in person.
To the person who wrote about the ingredients and not knowing where to get them, my copy of the book has a supplier list at the back, maybe yours does too.
This book was worth every penny (even when converted to Australian dollars).

I've used the recipes in this book so many times and they've always turned out delicious and beautiful! I love that the range of baked goods is completely covered; from the beloved cookie to the more exotic pastries and breads.
This is also great for all bakers! Beginners get a helpful guide to starting their bakeware collection and basic techniques that are beautifully illustrated. The sumptuous pictures in this cookbook is reason enough to own it and have it around the house! Most recipes can be made with ingredients that the average pantry has. If you can only get one book about baking, this is the one to get!

Yeah, what can I say that hasn't already been said here? It's Martha. You can expect excellence. I have been wanting (needing!) a good baking book for a while, and when I saw that Martha had one out, I knew this would be the one. People can say whatever they want about her, but one thing cannot be denied: if the woman puts her name on something, you know you're getting quality. Martha doesn't mess around.
This is much more than just a collection of recipes. It's a book that you'll be proud to own and display, will reach for time and time again and will pass on to your children and grandchildren.

I discovered baking through this book. a lot of really tasty recipes that are pretty easy to make. If you are a beginning baker, this book will get you started right with basic techniques and ideas. There are lots of recipes for simple things that you could add into your own experiments, like lemon curd, pastry filling, syrups, mousse, etc. Sometimes I like to mix recipes - instead of using one kind of sugary goodness, you substitute a different sugary goodness. This book has got the goods. Baked that is. Now if I could do something with all the goldfish i've made out of gold...
