Book Reviews of Material World: A Global Family PortraitBook Review: Life Changing! Summary: 5 StarsThis is one of the most meaningful books I've ever read. It changed the way that I think about the world, about my own belongings. Incredible and a must have.
Book Review: A Beautiful and Important Work Summary: 5 Stars
The photographs that are highlighted in "Material World" reveal people and their possessions, people from many countries, rich and poor. To see how many others in the world live gives us only a glimpse of our good fortune here in the U.S. A valuable and timely book.
Book Review: Fantastic Resource Summary: 5 StarsI homeschool my two children, and this book, along with Hungry Planet, are among my best resources for teaching my kids economics, geography, and sociology. The families portraits are fascinating, and by the end of the book, you find yourself wanting to pop over for dinner with any or all of them! A picture IS worth a thousand words. Amazing!
Book Review: Eye Opening Summary: 5 StarsOk..I must confess I have a lot of stuff. Its depressing but true. This was a revelation on Ones possessions around the world. How Western countries have loads of crap and lesser countries have less. This book has a prized spot in my bookcase. I think its a must for anyone taking a hard look at material possessions and how we either take them for granted or wish we had 1/10 of them.
Book Review: i never get tired of flipping through this wonderous book Summary: 5 Starsi have given this book to about 10 friends as gifts and all of them always are amazed and love the coffee table book just as much as i do! in fact i have bought the other books in Peter Menzel's series as well! Every time i open it and compare countries, i read something i didnt catch the first time. Even friends who have children as young as 6 tell me their kids like to study the pictures as well!
