Book Review: the best $20 I have ever spent

I bought this book after reading positive reviews on Amazon when I just got pregnant and I have been reading parts of it at least once a week since then (I'm 7 months pregnant now). My first favorite part describes the child's development week after week in detail. It's so interesting to learn what is happening with your Little One at all these stages. My second favorite part is "Common concerns and questions of pregancy". It literally answered all my questions and concerns I have had since the beginning of the pregancy. It's a great relief to learn that the symptoms you have are a normal part of pregnancy, that every woman has them, and that there is nothing to worry about. It's very reassuring and gives you a piece of mind! Another part describes the delivery in detail, pain relief options and how to take care of an infant. I think all these parts are extremely useful for first-time mothers like me.
In sum, the book is written in a very objective way always giving you options and giving you an opportunity to take a well-informed decision. I think it's one of the best $20 I have ever spent.
Book Review: Best pregnancy book for me

I'm 7 months into my first time of pregnancy now. I bought several books and borrowed more from the library. I had this book before I got pregnant. At the time, it looked sort of boring. But as things go further, it turns to be the most useful one for me. Maybe it should not be the only book you get for pregnancy, but I'd highly recommend it to anyone.
I particularly like that it has a doctor-like matter-of-fact tone. After reading too many girlish-toned pregnancy books, this book is refreshing and relieving. It is very informative, yet very concise and gives answers quickly. The format is also very easy to use. One major part is pregnancy week by week; another major part is symptoms. (Not like "what to expect", symptoms and questions are mixed with the chapters of "week by week." Then this month you remember you read something somewhere, but couldn't find it. Next month you read something that you already experienced last month.)
I eventually kept this book with "what to expect when you are expecting". I think these two books together basically meets my need.
Book Review: Excellent book for expectant mothers

My mother gave me this book when I found out I was pregnant and I am eternally grateful to her. Being a late starter (in my thirties) I have had concerns that younger women likely don't face. This book is well written and goes into detail on each topic, giving you valuable information that is easy to understand. Each month of pregnancy is covered in detail and gives the reader knowledge of what to expect when the time comes. This is so valuable, helping to alleviate fears that tend to crop up from time to time. The book covers breast feeding and circumcision, although those topics weren't covered in as much detail as I would have liked. I realize I will need to purchase a breast-feeding book for more details and also join the group my doctor has recommended to prepare for the hurdles I may encounter. Even my husband has read several of the topics of interest to him and commented on how precise everything is written in this book. I highly recommend this book to every woman who is expecting, it is as some others have commented, "like having a doctor at your fingertips".Book Review: Best of the bunch!

I wanted a book written for intelligent adults that provided all the necessary information without the hype that this pregnancy will be an event around which the universe will revolve. (I've got plenty of time after my child is born to believe that.) After staring down the dizzying array of books on pregnancy, this was my pick. Not only do I love it, but my husband thought it was great and not too "jr. high sex ed class" oriented like many of the picture-heavy books. It's packed with information presented in a no-nonsense format that really lays out all your options for every aspect of pregnancy without taking sides. The organization is terrific with charts, graphs, and sidebars on all the things you want to know. The decision guides make you feel like you can handle anything that comes up. And it lets you easily find what you want whether it's weekly updates on how you and your baby are doing, guides for the big decisions about breastfeeding and circumcision, or specialized advice based on medical difficulties or multiple pregnancies. When we started trying, I bought a lot of pregnancy books. I am now towards the end of my first trimester and this book has been by far the best book I own on this topic.
This book is extremely well organized, very informative and objective, and covers a wide range of topics from pregnancy to birth to breastfeeding.
It is very easy to find what you are looking for. For each week, it explains what your body is going through, how your baby is growing and what emotional changes you could expect. In each month, there is a summary page that lists the problems you may have in that period and tells you when you should call your doctor. There are very nice drawings that show what your baby looks like and how big it is. (Some pictures are real size, for others the book tells what percentage of the real thing the picture is.)
This book had answers to all my questions so far - and I should say, being a very curious first time mom, I had a lot of questions.
