Book Reviews of Me of Little Faith

Book Review: Where's the trademark Lewis Black ire?
Summary: 2 Stars

Lewis Black takes very few chances in this rather mild look at religious belief. Sticking with the relatively safe targets of Christianity, Judaism, and Mormonism, while avoiding anything that might really cause a problem for him (Islam, anyone?) he treads ground that's been pretty much covered. It's also hard to take seriously any commentary criticizing organized religion in a book that also has a chapter about his friend with "psychic ability" that is meant to be taken seriously. There are some funny sections, but my disappointment with Black's inability to commit wholeheartedly to his topic left me more disappointed than amused.

Book Review: One of the best satirical comics out there!
Summary: 4 Stars

I'm a huge Lewis Black fan and this book did not disappoint! The first half is lighthearted, laugh-out-loud funny with some great insight into his life before he hit the big time. The second half is more serious and satirical humor which gives you a peek into his life as it is now as well as a better appreciation for where some of his humorous rants come from. The book lends itself to being able to hear Lewis Black performing in your head. A quick but really enjoyable read. Well done Lewis!

Book Review: Hilarious!
Summary: 5 Stars

I started reading this book while enjoying my hot chocolate at a local bookstore and literally almost coughed it out laughing! This book is hysterical! From chapters about gurus to his experiences with psychics and psychedelics, each chapter was funny and also telling! He's an interesting comic who displays a depth of character not usually seen in written works by comedians! I loved it!

Book Review: Tired and boring
Summary: 1 Stars

I like Luis Black on the Daily show which is why I bought the book. It was pretty disappointing. A collection of tired comments on religion from an unreligious Jew. It was material that was not funny with jokes scattered on top. Like icing on a cinder block.

Book Review: Amen, Mr. Black. Amen
Summary: 5 Stars

If you are a fan of his stand up work, you need to buy this book. The man is brilliantly funny. You can hear him yelling at you on the page, while you are in stitches with laughter. You walk away foaming at the mouth for more.
