Book Review: Bland and Predictable

I bought this book expecting an inside look at college football recruiting, while also anticipating from the book's advertisements that the information contained within it would contain "surreal" accounts that shed "new light" on the "sordid" world of college football recruiting.
In short, none of these claims are true and the book is a yawner. Mr. Feldman is not that good of a writer, and his descriptions are somewhat bland and uninspiring, even though the characters are anything but. Additionally, far from being "sordid" or "suprising", Ed Orgeron reveals himself to be a very ethical, sincere man, who does nothing in the book that either surprised or shocked me. His staff pursued recruits avidly (who doesn't?) while obeying the rules and being honest and positive with both students/families and rival coaches alike.
Also, the Joe McKnight storyline is quite anti-climactic, as everyone with even a remote understanding of college football, knows how that story ends.
All told, somewhat interesting book, with a strong premise, but poor writing and character development (and the advertisements are very misleading).
