Book Reviews of Mind PreyBook Review: The best yet Summary: 5 Stars
I never thought I'd find any author I like more than Nelson DeMille and his John Corey character but I like Sandford at least as much, maybe a little more.
I've read 6 or 7 and "Mind Prey" is the best yet and I loved the others.
Lucas Davenport is Sam Spade, Phillip Marlowe and Corey rolled into one. A superb character.
In fact, all Sandford's characters are real people with many sides, some not so admirable. You know, like real people.
Great series. Great writing. Great wit and down to earth grittiness without all of today's PC BS.
I still love DeMille. No one tells a story like he does. BUT, I think Davenport is the best character I've run across. Just a smidgen ahead of Corey.
But you can't go wrong with either of them. I can't wait to read the rest of the Davenport Series. Only 18 more to go!

Book Review: Victims as victors... Summary: 5 Stars
I'll second the other rave reviews of the seventh book in Sandford's Prey series! It IS the best so far (although I have a soft spot for Winter Prey where Lucas meets Weather). Sandford creates ironic suspense as Lucas encounters the game-playing villain but fails to recognize him. The kidnapped psychologist Andi Manette and her daughters Genevieve and Grace are as real as Lucas and John Mail - they're imaginative, resourceful and doggedly enduring in planning to get themselves out of this. No sitting and waiting to be rescued for them! One can't help but remember Kate's gutsy escape from Casanova's den in Patterson's Kiss the Girls, but Sandford's solution is realistic, grindingly slow, and you're not sure they will succeed - much better! Some consider these books too gory and graphic. Maybe so, but the gore is never gratuitous, and there are real heroes/heroines as well as more ordinary pitiable villains.
Book Review: It'll blow you off !!!!!!! Irresistable Summary: 5 Stars
The "Prey" series of John Sanford just gets better. A mentally challenged guy, John Mail gets after the very doctor who treated him. He kidnaps her with her 2 daughters. What happens next tells a horrowing tale of the life of Andi with John. She is stripped, raped and assaulted by hand and fist. But, this is just the beginning.
Lucas Davenport comes into the act to get Andi and her 2 daughters. But, nobody knows the identity of this guy and he seems to be pretty intelligent. The plot gets tighter and tighter gripping you by your throat and the chase getting John by Davenport is excellent. It is not mere a cop chase but something that the mind of the killer wants.
This book is a superlative effort and a perfect entertainer. Here, Lucas finds a match to his abilities and getting John down by a plethora of cops just let you spell-bound.
Go get your copy. It's fast and furious !!!!!!!
Book Review: One of the Best in the Series Summary: 5 Stars
MIND PREY is the seventh book in the "Lucas Davenport" series by John Sandford. It is also one of the best ones.
There isn't a dull moment in this book. The plot is a straightforward kidnapping story, but it still has a lot of exciting twists and turns. MIND PREY is also a whodunit, because the kidnapper is being assisted by someone whose identity isn't revealed until late in the story. There are also some interesting developments in Davenport's personal life in this novel also.
John Sandford is one of the biggest thriller writers out there, and this book demonstrates why he's so popular. MIND PREY is fast paced, fun, and exciting. It's a real pleasure to read. I rank this book up there with Sanford's best, which includes efforts such as RULES OF PREY, EYES OF PREY, and WINTER PREY. My advice is to read the series in order for maximum enjoyment, however.
Book Review: Somebody should shoot John Mail Summary: 3 Stars
for waht he did to Andi Manette and her two daughters. And shoot the psychiatrist responsible and the conspirator for the pain they causes Andie and her two daughters. And all because her first husband was needing money. In his book, a former mental patient is helped to fulfill his vioelnt sexual fantasies on his former doctor, Andie Manette, by getting his conspirators,Tower and Wolfe, to set up his own ex wife so he could dissolve the trust fund and get her money so he could pay off his own bills!
Mail is the the former mental patient and he abdusts with the ex husband's knwoledge and help and possibly the psychiatrist too and violently strips and rapes repeatly Anide Manette, his former doctor.
Personally, I wish Lucas the detective would have just hauled off and shot Mail. And put the doctor, Wolfe, on trial for aiding and abetting a known sex offender.
