Book Reviews of Mind PreyBook Review: Watch Out for Parked Vans Summary: 5 Stars
Dr. Andi Manette and her two children are kidnapped from near the kid's school. Witnesses tell the police that they saw blood on the victims as they were being taken away in an unusual looking van. The general public is alarmed. The story moves rapidly from there. We share the inside story of the kidnapped family's experience, we learn of the mind that has led to their being victimized. We follow Minneapolis Inspector Lucas Davenport as he weaves together a complicated set of clues that he hopes will find the Manette's. A tense and gripping story that is thoroughly engaging.
Book Review: A page turner to the power of 10! Summary: 5 Stars
I am in the process of reading #8 of 10 (so far) of the "Prey" series. I re-read the first 3 and have continued through the entire series. Mind Prey is #7 and by far the best yet. This story kept me locked in from the first pages. It has the hidden secrets, the "thing" Lucas Davenport just can't get ahold of, empathy for the victims, and surprises until the very end. Instead of "burning out" on the saga, I eagerly start the next book. WOW! What a storyteller is John Sandford!
Book Review: my favorite Sandford thus far Summary: 4 Stars
One thing about Sandford is he doesn't use alot of different story lines to achieve his goal. The ever present Lucas, has his work cut out for him in this thriller. His badboy attitude helps him attain his goal of catching the Psycho in this one. The wealthy family and innocent hostages add to the drama. As well as the police department details. My 1st knowledge of Davenports side business being involved so much in the plot. Was an excellent story, kept me going. For murder mystery, Sandford is a great way to go.
Book Review: TOO GOOD Summary: 5 Stars
THE PROBLEM WITH THIS AND ALL THE PREY BOOKS IS THAT SANDFORD MASTERFULLY IMMERSES ME IN SUCH AGONIZING SUSPENSE THAT, IN DESPERATION TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT, I SPEED READ AND MISS OUT ON GOOD DETAILS! I ENJOY HIS STRONG, REALISTICALLY CRAFTED FEMALE CHARACTERS, WHO ARE AS CAPABLE AND FALLIBLE AS THE MEN. EACH OF HIS BOOKS I HAVE DEVOURED IN TWO DAYS OR LESS STARTING WITH THE EXPRESS FILE, AFTER WHICH I WAS HOOKED. JUST STARTED THE FOOLS RUN AND I'M TRYING TO TAKE MY TIME AND SAVOR IT! SANDFORD IS THE BEST.
Book Review: LUCAS DAVENPORT BOOK SEVEN Summary: 5 Stars
John Sandford offers up book seven in the PREY series, MIND PREY. His detective hero, Lucas Davenport is one of the best characters in the genre. I think this book is the best so far. (I encourage you to read them in order.) Davenport is a great detective and he is rich, that is very different too for a cop. He is a computer games creator, he drives a Porsche to work. This novel once again brings Davenport against a skilled madman gamer. A great story with great support characters. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
