Book Reviews of Miss RumphiusBook Review: Miss Rumphius Summary: 5 Stars
As a little kid i loved to read this book, and i still love to read it today. This book is good for reading when you are by yourself and it is all quiet. Miss Rumphius is a very kind woman who loves to travel. After her traveling days are over, she plants flowers every where. All the kids think she is crazy, but when all the flowers bloom, the kids dont think she is weird anymore. I think this is a great book for everyone to read.
Book Review: We love the Lupine Lady! Summary: 5 Stars
Having been a big fan of Barbara Cooney's illustrations in the Ox Cart Man, I was excited to buy this book to share with my children, and it did not disappoint. The pictures are beautiful, and the story has a wonderful message to share with children: do something in your life to make the world more beautiful. It would make a great story to share in an elementary school classroom, or with your own children or grandchildren.
Book Review: Wonderful Wonderful Summary: 5 Stars
One of the most cherished books in our house! My daughter and I went out and planted lupines in our garden and every spring she delights when they come up. The story is wonderful and the illustrations are awesome. She sits mesmerized while I read to her. It teaches children without "teaching" by giving them a heartwarming story about following your path in life and respecting the people, places and things in your world.
Book Review: Magical simplicity for a more beautiful world! Summary: 5 Stars
Miss Rumphius is everything that a child's book should be! It is filled with the beauty of simple things and simple acts that have magical results! I always think of Maine when I read this book, and plan to give it as a gift to our out of town friends this summer as they share our daughter's Maine wedding by the sea with us! I will ask each of them to share Miss Rumphius with a child. Bravo to Barbara Cooney!
Book Review: Miss Rumphius Summary: 5 Stars
I used this book when I was teaching in second grade...years ago...forgot the title so asked Amazon to find The Lupine Lady.....and they found Miss Rumphius...I had tried Borders on the phone and they had no book by that name....but Amazon knew what I was looking for. Thank you. My Daughter-in-law has lupines growing in her yard and I wanted her to have this wonderful book. She was delighted with it.
