Book Reviews of Miss RumphiusBook Review: We're making the world more beautiful! Summary: 5 Stars
This book arrived on the first day of our granddaughter's summer "vacation" with us and was an immediate hit for one and all. Well written with fine illustrations, our four-and-a-half year old was captivated from the start, and now our search is on for lupines that we will plant at her home and ours this coming season so that we too can "make the world a more beautiful place".
Book Review: Clooney is a gift to all! Summary: 5 Stars
Growing up in New England I am able to see the gifts and people Cooney brings to life in her books. The Lupine are in bloom as I write this. Cooney brings this beautiful picture to all along with a few lessons about life we all should take to heart. Miss Rumphius is a charming tale for young and old! A must read! And add it to your child library as well as your own!
Book Review: an important teaching with beautiful illustrations Summary: 5 Stars
Alice's grandfather listens to her life's goals, and tells her that she must do something else as well: "you must do something to make the world more beautiful." And so she does.
This message beautifully mirrors the statement of the Mishnah (Jewish religious text) sage "You are not required to finish the work, nor are you free to desist from it."
Book Review: Tea Party Theme Summary: 5 Stars
This is a fabulous little story for children & adults as well. I would recommend it without reservation. Miss Rumpius provides us a valuable lesson that I was pleased to be reminded of even at 65 y/o. My 3 y/o granddaughter & I will host a Mother's Day Tea that will include 4 generations & we are using the theme of Miss Rumphius for all to cherish.
Book Review: Great Book! But Illustrations washed out Summary: 2 Stars
This book is a classic, and the illustrations are magical. I was disappointed when I received my latest copy--the pictures are all washed out, as if they've been reproduced with a cheaper process or something. I suggest not buying a new copy--try to find an old one with the richness of the original illustrations.
