Book Review: Fantastic series. Wish this "more" book didn't take a step backwards.
Summary: 4 Stars
Our daughter just turned 3, and LOVES the Kumon books. She has been doing the "Let's Cut Paper", "First Book of Tracing" and "Let's Color". Doing "cutting activities" is her absolute favorite. These books give specific and helpful instructions to parents, and the projects increase in difficulty at a nice pace. She's doing a great job being careful as she cuts, and I let her cut out the pages herself now too (I hold the book for her).
My only complaint about this "more" book is that the activities start out at the same skill level as the first activities in the first "let's cut paper" book. She instantly wanted to skip the first several activities, so she could try the more challenging ones.
Looking forward, I foresee the same challenge with the larger-format cutting book. And the entire series seems to be lacking an intermediate to help children move from the cutting books (with thick grey lines to follow), to the pasting activities--which I'd like to let her cut out herself, but which don't have guide lines (or enough space) for little ones to cut items out themselves. I've just ordered these, and we'll see....
This product still deserves 4 stars, because my daughter LOVES it, and she's really developing her skills in a healthy and happy way because of it.
