Book Reviews of Much Ado About Nothing (BBC Radio Shakespeare)

Book Review: Another reason to love and ADORE David Tennant
Summary: 5 Stars

You can almost visualize the performance! Oh, it is so wonderfully portrayed.

I am completely new to the world of Shakespeare. Oh, I know that sounds unbelievable. Of course I knew of Shakespeare--there are few in the world who can say otherwise--but before now, I had never read a Shakespeare play, nor seen a performance. And I'd decided to listen to this ONLY because David was listed as a performer in it (as you can tell, I love David Tennant). Now it is my very favorite Shakespearean radio performance of his and even now my favorite Shakespearean play.

The actors perform so well in Much Ado that you know the contemporary meaning of what they are saying, (even though we do not speak so ornately today). I took this audio out of the NYPL but I'm determined to buy this for my own continued pleasure... as I will all others. Since then, I have also listened to Hamlet by BBC Radio, though it did not list David in it, the performance was so good, I decided to try another and was riveted. My newfound love for Shakespeare may have started because of my love for DT, but it will not end there.

I will look through other BBC Radio Shakespeare performances and be assured, I do believe I will enjoy them!

Summary of Much Ado About Nothing (BBC Radio Shakespeare)

This full cast BBC Radio production allows the wonderful verbal sparring between Beatrice and Benedick to sparkle, as high comedy and melodrama mix magically in a combination of prose and verse.
