Book Reviews of My Big Boy PottyBook Review: Great book for my 2 year old Summary: 5 Stars
I decided to get my 2 year old a book about using the potty, to get him started. I got Once Upon a Potty, but it was a bit too graphic and detailed for him. He wasn't at all interested in it, and didn't seem to like it. Because he LOVES Joanna Cole's book I'm a Big Brother, I decided to try her Potty book. He LOVES it. Though he is not potty trained yet (we have not really started seriously working on that yet), he does recite the book to me now, and pretends that he is the boy in the book. i'm thrilled with how much he enjoys it and seems to relate to it. I highly recommend this book, particularly for preparing to potty-train.
Book Review: Awesome! Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this book in conjunction with another well-known potty book and this one is by far the best so far. The story is easy to read and the pictures are not too explicit. My son (22 months) really gets it! The illustrations are right-on and easy to understand. My son actually knows the difference between the "potty" and the "toilet." He loves it when I read this book to him, wanting me to keep reading it over and over again. He points out pictures in the book aside from the potty and toilet. In fact, he actually tells me when he has to go! We are still working on the timing of it all...but over all, this is a great book.
Book Review: Great book for toilet training little boys Summary: 5 Stars
I bought three potty training books for my son and this is one I like the most. It has a nice specific story which doesn't dodge the fact that poo and wee are what actually go into a potty (as some of the others do), and the story outlines the training process neatly. The parents' reaction to accidents is good and can be used as an example when my own child has an accident ("Don't worry, all children have accidents sometimes. Next time you'll remember"). The illustrations are very good, and my son clearly relates to them (he's fascinated by Michael's car at the beginning of the book). Highly recommended.
Book Review: Good Book Summary: 5 Stars
I have had difficulty finding a really good, descriptive book for a boy for potty training my 2-1/2 year old. I bought this one online and hoped for the best. Turns out it is really great! Very descriptive for the whole potty training process. My son now "reads" much of the book and often flips to the pages that relate to him, for example he will flip to the page where Michael (the little boy in the book) is sitting on the potty reading his books b/c that's what we are doing. Definately recommend this book to parents working towards potty training their sons!
Book Review: A Lifesaver! Summary: 5 Stars
This book is a must when potty training. My son is now officially trained, but during the course of it all, this book was worth it's weight in gold. My son really identified with the little boy Michael, and I think it really influenced him to be "A Big Boy". The book is very warm, fuzzy and is written in a kind and forgiving nature, (the mommy and daddy are very patient and kind with Michael) which is so important during this time in a child's life. The illustrations are bright and cheerful and the book is a perfect size for little hands...I love it!!!
