Book Review: thick, but good

I have three 14 point print Bibles (HCSB and NLT). It is my second favorite. Like the HCSB, it has a helpful concordance and dictionary. Separate in the HCSB and together in the NIV. It has a similar binding as the others, though dark blue instead of black. It is so nearly black that you may wonder why they made it so dark blue instead of just going ahead and making it black or using a lighter blue. It uses a better color of red for the red letter part, as some Bibles use such a neon red it bothers the eyes to read the Gospels for too long. This red is duller, so much easier on on the eye. The pages are much thicker, not the standard India paper most Bibles use, that I find easier to turn (I don't ever have to lick my finger) and less prone to the "read on both sides of the sheet at once" syndrome. Also does't have the shiny metallic edges which may look cool, but have to be seperated to turn a page. The paper color is also not as brilliant white as most, so you can read longer without tiring the eyes. Thus it is about a fourth thicker than the other giant print type Bibles and weighs a couple of ounces more. The translation is easier to read than the HCSB, but not as simple as the NLT.
