Book Review: Nana, What's Cancer?
Summary: 5 Stars
A must-have book for curious kids in general. The authors' target audience is mainly the young crowd whose member of their families or friends suffer from this devastating disease. However, as I read on, I found more precious gems. Besides explaining the technicality and details of cancer, the authors tackle our emotions and bring about the awareness of people in our surroundings. Shennen Bersani depicted each scene with exceptional charm and to a great detail in facial expression as well as the color realism. Together, the authors and illustrator also direct our attention to the survivors and their families and friends; how to cheer them up on daily basis, and how little things you do can make a great difference. Fead, a patient and a survivor, alerted us that we should voice out to the lawmakers how they can be actively involved in saving many lives. Though this book may seem long to some young readers, I read a few chapters at a time with my seven-year-old. We paused and pondered from time to time imagining ourselves in their shoes. It is a great gift that teaches many life lessons.

Tessa is a 10-year-old girl who wants to understand the confusing world of cancer and then to be able to explain it to other children. She embarks on her quest by asking questions of her Nana, whose answers are designed to both ease children?s fears and provide them with factual information.
