Book Review: Good but not for Mac OS X!
Summary: 4 Stars
This is a really good book for learning networking or just finding answers quickly. This version is the latest, updated for Windows but too bad for anyone trying to connect a Mac to their network as the Mac section of this book still references the antiquated and obsolete Mac OS 9 (remember the "Chooser"?!?). Too bad we've all been working with OS X for the last several years . . . C'mon guys, catch up! Still a good book but you'll need another form of reference for Mac.Book Review: okay but errors

Sloppy editing.
Started reading this book today. Now at page 117 which is about 1/3 of the book and already found six (6) very obvious errors. Pretty pathetic for a book in its 8th edition.
As an example, on page 117, subnet mask is 255.255.240.0 yet the diagram shows it as all (1s)
--> 11111111 11111111 11111111 11111111 when it should be
--> 11111111 11111111 11110000 00000000

Good and sometimes humorous explanations of tips of must do's and don't in networking. To be a full fledged administrator you need a more detailed book and manuals of specific systems, but this will get you started.
