Book Reviews of Night Game (GhostWalkers, Book 3)Book Review: Innovative storyline with an exciting love story! Summary: 5 Stars
I loved this book. I loved it for a lot of reasons. But, one of my main reasons for loving this book is for the heroine, Flame.
Although this book will certainly appeal to romance readers because the chemistry between Flame and Gator is so H-O-T!... although this book will appeal to action/adventure readers as well as sci fi lovers due to the paranormal elements...what I think this book really has going for it is the strength of the heroine.
We all have tradegy hit us and are expected to go about our daily routine, go to work, smile at the custormer, whatever...but it is at those times that we really see our true selves. In this book, Flame is seriously ill. You know soon into it that she realizes she will die. Her life is lonely. There's pain. But, at no point does she feel sorry for herself. She wants to make her last days count for something. She spends her time helping others. Fighting the good fight so to speak.
Then along comes Gator. Handsome, funny, sexy and everything any woman would want. He thinks he can save her. She doesn't want to be saved. When they team up to stop some really bad guys they find they have a lot in common. They both have supernatural powers. They both have a lonely life. And they both have a will of iron.
This romance is electric! If you want something so exciting that it will keep you up till 3AM reading...this is the book for you!
Book Review: An entertaining disapointment Summary: 2 Stars
I loved this book that is until I got to the last few chapters. First, let me just say that I have been waiting for Gators story forever. He's funny and charming and I was eager to see how the book would go. Flame was feisty and fiery just as her name implies. First strike was that I couldn't entirely believe them to a good couple together. Beyond hot sex, they really had little in common. I couldn't believe the turn it took. I found myself staying up late to finish this story, and was disappointed with the ending. I couldn't believe Gator would deliberately drug Flame (the girl he's supposedly in love with) and basically have the other Ghostwalkers kidnap her, tie her to a bed and force her to endure medical treatment she didn't want. It was disgusting. But what made it worse was when Flame's character did a complete turn around that didn't match with the personality that had been built up. The fire is gone, and she suddenly becomes grateful to the very man who betrayed her.
I hated the ending; it completely spoiled the rest of the book for me. The only reason I can give it two stars is the beginning of the book is very good, funny, charming and witty. But beware of the ending; it destroys everything built up about the characters.
Book Review: Cant get enough Summary: 5 Stars
The Ghostwalker series the spot of my all time favorite books which was previously held by the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. Night Game in particular stands out over other books just like every other Game book. The hero Gater and the heroin Flame are electrifying like only Feehan can create. Both of there abilities are incredible and it only adds to there personnalities and chemistries. Feehan makes sure to do extensive reasurch in everything from locations to weapons and tactical situations before puting anything in writing. This includes hand-to-hand combat, which she is a fourth degree blackbelt and knows several people who are highly trained in spec-ops tactics and situations, firing all kinds of firearms how highly trained spec-ops operaters discharge there weapons and execute precision tactical manuvers in the field. The Ghostwalkers have an incredible advantage over real spe-ops soldiers with there enhancements alowing them to perform fantasy manuvers as well but that just makes it that much more entertaining. I have the Ghostwalker crest tattooed on my chest in honor of my Aunt Chris and the success of the Ghostwalker series. Hoo-yah!
Book Review: I love this series! It just keeps getting better! A MUST read! Summary: 5 Stars
I love Feehan's work and think the Game series of books are her best works, and I am a Carpathian nut, so this is saying a lot.
Reading a book by Feehan is like putting on my favorite fuzzy robe, I just know I am going to feel better curling up in it and I know it is going to be good. I also find myself enjoying reading other authors Feehan recommends. I trust Feehan, and her opinions and stories have clout with me. She is consistently good in my book.
And Night Game hits a home run in the Game Series. I felt like I was in the bayou. The characters were strong and the story moved with a lot of action, and it was very multifaceted. My heart was wrapped up with Gator and Flame and ached with them (my jaw dropped with the coco scene and my heart ached, I couldn't believe it). The sex scenes were a la Feehan HOT, man can she write 'em. And what I love about the Game books most is that both leads are strong, smart characters, that complement each other. Even though they may have emotional issues, they are very intelligent and possess extraordinary gifts.
This is a MUST read. As is the series. It has it all.
Book Review: Awful french put me off Summary: 1 Stars
This was the first book by Christine Feehan I have ever read and I bought it solely based on the reviews. It was barely an ok book and my biggest gripe with it was the 'french' that made me cringe every time it came up. It's not even 'France-french' as one reviewer put it-I speak France french having been born in a french-speaking country with french as my second language. Nobody I know-French or French speaking-uses the phrases Gator uses. The curses were ridiculous and the supposed endearments just made me want to cover my face. Did the author even get a native French speaker, or even a real cajun person to proof-read this? I doubt it. Who on earth addresses their significant other as 'vous'? In French that is the formal way you address strangers not someone you just had a romantic moment with. That is just basic French 101 and that was one of the minor language errors. The others are so glaring I don't know where to begin. If this is the level of the research Ms. Feehan does for her books, I will not be reading any of her other offerings. Which is a pity because the book had a good premise.
