Book Review: Too Shallow... Where is the Love?

Adele and Zach first met in their senior year in college. After dating for 2 months, and Zach taking Adele's virginity, he breaks up with her to marry his ex girlfriend who turns up pregnant with his baby. Adele's heart is broken but they both go on with their lives.
It is 14 years later, and Zach's wife has been dead for three years and stuck in between worlds. An angel grants her wishes, to use to help people for the good of the world, so she may one day be allowed into heaven. However, Zach's wife uses these wishes to cause problems to people she's always disliked. Like Adele, whom she's always been jealous of...and so she cursed her, that Adele will never have a good date.
Adele temporarily moves in with her pregnant sister because of complications with her pregnancy and ends up in the same town as her ex, Zach. From here on, is your typical romance, lots of sex, some laughs since its by Rachel Gibson, and of course your HEA.
And my review, why I gave this such low rating..... This book started out great, I giggled myself silly at times, both the hero(alpha hunk), and the heroine were both very like'able, very real people whom I could relate to. But gradually, I noticed a huge problem with this book, I honestly didn't think they really loved each other. More so from the hero's side.
After the huge break up, the hero seemed to have just moved on with his life, really without much regrets. Living it off as a star football player, living away from his legal wife and his daughter, having affairs after affairs. Mean while, the heroine was emotionally torn for years. Then they meet again, and he still didn't seem like he cared for her. It was mostly him whining about not having a sex life due to having a daughter living with him.
After seeing lots of sex, which were not up to Rachel Gibsons standards, and you'd stopped giggling 100 pages ago, feeling quite bored because you've lost your enchantment with the book, the hero acts like the biggest bastard, and the heroine is sick with love for him.... after he treats her like a nobody, and as soon as he says "I love you"... its all forgiven.
First of all, the love is so ridiculously unbelievable its laughable.... and the fact, the heroine takes him back, just like that, without a hint of graveling from the hero, made me loose all respect for her. Practically, the hero goes from saying he does not care for her, did not want her, to showing up one day to declare his love.. I mean where did that come from? I was left feeling he will end up being unfaithful to the heroine, and the heroine will put up with all sorts of crap from the hero... Not a good feeling to be left with after a romance.
All in all, one of the worst by this talented author. If this is your first by this author, know that her other books, like See Jane Score are truly wonderful.

Texans love God, family, and football, though not always in that order
Zach, a former pro star, knows all about football. As for the other two, well, he's doing his best. But when Adele comes charging back into his life?still all lush curves and beautiful, big blue eyes?he wonders if his best is good enough. After all, he did her wrong. Can a woman with her track record ever really believe that he's serious this time . . . or is he destined to be another bad date?
