Book Reviews of Nothing to Be Frightened OfBook Review: Could not even finish Summary: 1 Stars
I am in a book club. And we choose this book for last month's read. We all agreed, we hated this book. The writing did not flow well, and it was very random. The "story" (if you can even call it that) jumped around a lot and made it difficult to follow. I am not sure how this book managed to get such good reviews. I read a lot, and even if I am not enjoying the book, I rarely do not finish. This book, just got added to that very short list.
Book Review: Truthful, a little rueful. Summary: 5 Stars
Julian Barnes is the man I most would like to do lunch with!! Everything he writes is a sardonic conversation between our most cherished delusions and our true nature, whether he is musing on God,as in this book, or fictionalizing what has replaced God in his many novels. There is a kind of innate modesty in his writing that makes his words irresistible.
Book Review: Julian Barnes on death Summary: 4 Stars
Nothing to Be Frightened Of A candid, amusing, learned discourse on our common end.
