Book Reviews of Nutrition and Physical Degeneration

Book Review: A classic - the only book on health you will ever need!
Summary: 5 Stars

Weston Price wanted to know why people developed caries in their teeth and why so many people had teeth which didn't seem to fit in their mouths because their jaws were too small. As a result of his research he came to realise that as a dentist he needed to study diet. I am so impressed with the way Weston Price was open to a whole new way of looking at his profession, that of being a dentist. He was completely open to the fact that his profession did not have all the answers and instead needed to learn from the socalled 'simple' or primitive people, the socalled savages whose diet allowed them to have perfect teeth, perfectly formed mouths and faces.

Weston was prepared to be humble enough to learn from people who the 'developed' society would regard as lowdown. In fact he paid for all his research out of his own earnings and had fantastic support from his wife. What an inspiring couple and what an incredibly eye-opening book! This couple deserve the Nobel prize but they will never get it because they are not acceptable to the medical establishment and the pharmaceutical controlling powers.

Book Review: Essential Reading for the Nutritionist
Summary: 5 Stars

This book may have saved my life. It surely gave me the impetus to switch from a nutrient deficient, anti-nutrient replete vegan diet to a healthy diet rich in animal products such as grass-fed beef, wild caught fish, patured chicken, high vitamin butter oil, cod liver oil, butter and milk in addition to a moderate amount of fruits and copius amounts of green vegetables.

Price examines primitive cultures to see what they eat and what are the results. The healthiest cultures ate no modern "foods of commerce", but ate primarily meat, some dairy, some tubers, and even blood. People that had begun to eat modern food were riddled with cavitations and crowded teeth. Price actually set out to prove that a vegetarian diet was the best, and he was sorely disappointed to find out how necessary animal products were. Once he made this discovery he immediately informed his family and the public of his findings instead of trying to peddle vegan propaganda like some authors do.

Book Review: Gold-mine of Information
Summary: 5 Stars

What a wealth of information that demonstrates cause and effect of proper nutrition, as well as the adverse effects of modern "food!" Quite frankly this builds up my faith in a loving God who created us for health and gave us everything possible for maintaining health. This book documents what happens when the laws of nutrition are broken by man's "progress." This information explains many of the health problems we take for granted today, and gives insight into what we can do to minimize our need for health care professionals. We really do have some control over our health. I love to discover wisdom that has been forgotten or obscured over the years. This is truly amazing journalism.

Book Review: book purchase
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this book as a gift for my friend.
It was shipped promptly, and I was able to give it to her as I intended.
The book provides a signficant amount of useful information regarding the impact of eating habits, the impact of food processing relevant to what is eaten, and the impact upon the human body that is incurred as a result of eating various processed and unprocessed foods. Although the author is a dentist and much of the perspective of the book provides information regarding how components of the mouth are affected, there is a great deal of information provided regarding foods, nutrition, and patterns.

Book Review: Superb, fascinating, troubling and important book
Summary: 5 Stars

This book has changed the way I feed myself and my family. Dr. Price's research demonstrates how nutrition affects physical health, and what we need to do to incorporate health-giving, nutrient-dense foods into our diet. The book is complete with scores of documentary photos of native peoples at the edge of contact with "modern" foods. The photos are jaw-dropping, and illustrate the profound effects of traditional (nutrient-rich) vs. modern (processed, nutrient-poor) diets on human health & development. As I eat better, I feel better, and I know that I am giving my family a sound and healthful diet as well.
