Book Reviews of Off SeasonBook Review: interesting little small town maine experience.... Summary: 4 Stars
Regardless whether you can stomach some of this yankee Maine
tale, it has its share of moments, it moved right along and
is one of the most in your face horror reads, can't say I've
read anything with this much viscera, and human suffering, gruesome but realistic in its depiction, pointless maybe but Jack Ketchum is one
damn good writer, he's not afraid to bite down on his material.
Book Review: Off Season, the most horrific book written. Summary: 5 Stars
I read this book when it first came out and recently read it again. Once you've read OFF SEASON there isn't another horror book on the shelves that can even compare. If the gore and mayhem doesn't get you, the suspense will. Another great book by Ketchum is Red [RED] [Mass Market Paperback], also a great movie.
Book Review: Classic Horror Novel Summary: 5 Stars
Written long before today's current obsession with commercialized torture fiction, Off Season is a book that stands out as a ballsy, all-out, gut-wrenching blood bucket of a tale, and is unapologetically brutal in its simplicity.
No fancy plot lines or exagerrated "good guy" characters here. This is one that will leave your mind feeling stained.
God bless Jack Ketchum.
Book Review: Good~ Not as good as I thought it was going to be Summary: 3 Stars
I was very excited to read "off season" due to all the hype I had read about it. To tell you the truth it was just OK~ It kinda dragged in places, especially when the local sheriff was involved. I totally hated the ending when not all make it out ( won't spoil it for those that have not read it yet) The crazies were described very good~ Totally sick! Other than that it was just ok~ My 2 cents
Book Review: Stephen King was right!!! Summary: 5 Stars
Stephen King said that "If you read OFF SEASON on Thanksgiving, you probably won't sleep until Christmas." Oh man, was he ever right! I love Jack Ketchum's writing, and have read several of his books. As far as I'm concerned (and reading horror is "my thing"), only he and Stephen King have so far managed to really make me feel disturbed, which is the best thing to be said about a horror novel.
